Chapter 3
Many times, Antonio rescued me from despair, so I had the illusion that I was special to him.
Now, it was time to accept the reality.
“My parents asked us to go back for dinner. Let’s go now if you are feeling OK.”
At the door of his parents‘ place, he got a phone call from Kiana.
“Kiana is still afraid of fire, so I have to cook for her.”
When I was about to go home after dinner, Antonio’s mom snapped while looking at her phone with an angry face, “Antonio went to Kiana’s place again!”
I didn’t look surprised at all, so she showed me something on her phone.
“Grace, didn’t you say that Antonio had to deal with something in the company? Did you know that he had gone to Kiana’s place? You know that Kiana… Well, why is he so crazy about her?”
Kiana had posted a photo of Antonio cooking for her on Instagram.
“Kiana should leave Antonio alone. She’s a married woman. Why did Antonio never suspect that?”
The reason why Axel Kaufman and Helen Burnett forbade Antonio from being with Kiana was that Kiana was married. Kiana hid it well, so Axel and Helen only knew that by accident.
Kiana didn’t have a happy marriage. Axel and Helen were afraid that Antonio would go fight with Kiana’s husband, so they didn’t tell Antonio.

I learned it from Axel and Helen. Because Kiana was married, I never thought about divorcing Antonio.
I thought I had been protecting him, but he had been hating me for that. over the past 8 years.
This time, I would walk away and let Antonio deal with what was between him and Kiana.
“Grace, I’m sorry about that. I thought Antonio would get over Kiana not long after he married you. After all, he loved you…”
Hearing that, I smiled at Helen and said calmly, “Antonio may have helped me out of sympathy. I misunderstood him. Since we are in so much pain being together, it’s time to end it.”
“End it?” Axel and Helen looked at me in shock.
“Antonio and I have signed a divorce agreement. I’ll leave in a couple of days. Please help me hide it from him. I don’t want him to make a choice he’ll regret again.”
My heart ached whenever I thought about the cold look Antonio had given me in the time machine.
We’d been together for over 10 years, and it was the first time that I felt like he was a stranger.
After explaining to Axel and Helen about the divorce, I went home alone.
When I was about to fall asleep, the bedroom door was kicked open.
Lopened my eyes in astonishment and saw a furious look.
“Grace, didn’t you promise that you wouldn’t tell my parents? Why can’t you stop hurting Kiana?“
