Chapter 4
Darell said to Kara, “I know you love fashion. Since you’ve just given birth, you should be extra careful. You don’t want to catch a cold. There are three months in winter, ninety–two days in total. You can wear one of these each day.”
Overjoyed, Kara pecked Darell’s cheek like a sweet teenage girl.
“Gee! Plenty of them are the brand’s limited editions for the next three years. How did you manage to buy them now? Darell, you’re the best.
“But… You gave me so many gifts. Violet won’t get upset, will she?”
Compared to those fabulous, expensive coats, the blood–stained clothes I was wearing looked ridiculous, making me look like a joke even more.

you now.”
Then she turned to me, feigning uneasiness. “Violet, don’t take this the wrong way. I adore Jimmy so much that I sometimes think of him as my own baby. Besides, he’s always so happy whenever I coax him.”
Holding Jimmy in her arms, she was about to go upstairs. Just then, she leaned into Darell’s arms, saying weakly, “Darell, I’m a bit dizzy…”
Darell immediately pushed me away and held her in his arms, looking nervous. He said hastily, “How so? It must be because you’ve just given birth. I told you to get some proper rest, and I’d hire a caretaker to take care of you, but you wouldn’t let me. I’ll take you upstairs.”
My right leg was wrapped in bandages. His push caught me off guard, and I fell to the floor, the pain from my leg spreading over my entire body.
Yet, Darell didn’t even glance at me. In front of everyone, he carried Kara in his arms and went upstairs while she was holding Jimmy.
After their figures disappeared from the stairwell, everyone looked at me with disdain. Someone mocked, their tones dripping with disgust, “It makes sense that Darell dotes on Kara so much. She’s pretty and kind- hearted enough to breastfeed someone else’s baby. On the contrary, someone is so shabby and unpresentable. She even took painkillers when she knew she had to breastfeed just because her leg hurt. How selfish.”
Someone else echoed, “She doesn’t deserve to be a mom at all. If you ask me, Kara is more qualified to be Jimmy’s mom. Kara looks more like him and dotes on him more than Violet does. He seems closer to Kara, too. I guess he wants Kara to be his mom. Kara and Darell are such a good match. It’s a shame they didn’t get married back then.”
Instead of speaking up for me, Regina looked at me with more hatred in her eyes and scolded, “Why are you still on the floor? Get up! Are you a cripple or a beggar? Having you, a lowly, useless woman as part of our family is such a disgrace.
“You don’t give a daman about your son, and you fail to keep Darell around. Also, is it true that you can never give birth again? Darell is so unlucky to marry you. Get lost! The sight of you disgusts me.”
Chapter 4
I felt so humiliated. Yet, as I thought of the divorce papers I had already prepared on my phone, I said nothing.
I struggled to get up and limped toward the study upstairs.
After I put the printed divorce papers in my bag, I went to the guest room. to find Darell.
But I didn’t see him or Kara there. Only the maid was resting there while holding Jimmy, who had been fed already.
Puzzled, I heard suggestive sounds coming from me and Darell’s bedroom.
The door wasn’t entirely closed. Kara was sitting on Darell’s lap, her shirt unbuttoned, her voice seductive. “Darell, I’ve got way too much milk. Jimmy doesn’t drink a lot, and I’m feeling so uncomfortable.
“Can you do me a favor and suck it out?”
