Chapter 12 A Professional Killer?
Despite his face being different from that night. I could still recognize those eyes.
He was so skilled at disguising himself. That night, he was a tall and strong man, but now looked like a delicate elderly person.
Seeing him frightened me. I suddenly recalled the pain before my death.
He was ruthless. He silently appeared behind me and stabbed me from behind without hesitation or mercy as if he had practiced it thousands of
times.
I have always been kind to others, so I never thought someone would have done such a thing to me.
Since he was so good at disguising himself, could he be a professional killer?
But he already killed me. Why was he here again? Another target?
My first thought was to escape, but then I realized that I had already died. I didn’t have to run.
Kaleb casually patted his shoulder without even looking at him. “It’s fine.”
The man, however, was staring straight at me, the same way as the day when he killed me.
Cold, cruel, and emotionless.
Even though I had already died, I still felt terrified. I froze as if paralyzed.
Could he see me??
Just as I thought this, I heard Kaleb quietly call, “Uncle Terrence.”
1 snapped back to reality and saw that the man’s gaze had passed through me and landed on Terrence, who was sitting in a wheelchair.
My tensed nerves slowly relaxed.
Terrence heard Kaleb, and at the same time, the man walked in Terrence’s
direction.
Thinking of what he did to me, I had an unsettling feeling. Was he here for more kills?
Without thinking, I instinctively opened my arms to shield Terrence.
Yet the man passed by Terrence without any change in his expression.
Landen pushed the wheelchair and stopped in front of Kaleb. Terrence’s gaze at Kaleb was filled with resentment, making Kaleb uneasy.
“As far as I know, Savannah disappeared after the wedding. Do you still have the mood to come to the gallery?”
I never expected that the person concerned about my whereabouts wasn’t my family or lover, but a man I barely knew.
“Savannah is not a child anymore. She can go wherever she wants. Besides, she’s always been willful. When she’s had enough, she’ll come back.”
Kaleb didn’t take it seriously at all.
“But what if something really happened to Savannah?” Terrence pressed.
Chapter 12 A Pofersional Killert
Kaleb froze for a moment, but before he could speak, Alena interrupted. “Terrence, don’t worry. She already flew to Lexingham.”
Kaleb turned to look at her “What did you say?”
“Kaleb. I only heard from a cousin in Lexingham today. She said Savannah asked her for a place to stay a month ago,” Alena explained.
Yes. I had said many times that I loved the flower–lined streets, the lush green mountains,
Yes. I had said the snowy peaks of Lexingham. I had always
wanted to settle there.
Half a month ago, I booked a flight to Lexingham the day after the wedding.
I planned to reveal Kaleb and Alena’s shameless affair at the wedding. I knew it would affect the relationship between the two families, so I decided to leave right after taking revenge.
Alena continued, “I checked and found she had booked a flight to Lexingham on the 15th.”
Kaleb’s worried face now looked angry. “No wonder I can’t find her anywhere. She left without a word!”
“Kaleb, don’t be angry. She doesn’t care about other people’s feelings. She comes and goes as she pleases. We’re used to it by now.”
If only Kaleb had checked, he would have known that although I had booked the ticket, I didn’t board the flight that day.
But he didn’t even bother. He simply believed Alena’s words.
I smiled bitterly and noticed that the smirk on Terrence’s lips mirrored
minc.
”
His pitch–black pupils seemed to have seen through everything long ago.
Terrence coldly said, “I hope you won’t regret it.”
I was dumbfounded. What did he mean? Did he know anything?
Kaleb also sensed that there was more to his words and was about to say something when Landen pushed him away.
Alena hooked her arm through his. “Kaleb, the auction is about to start. Let’s take our seats.”
I kept searching the crowd for that killer.
Finally, I found him.
He was hiding in the shadows as he kept an eye on Kaleb.
I thought for a long time but couldn’t recall where I had seen those eyes before. Who exactly was he?
Why did he show up here after killing me?
The most important question was: Where was my body?
I observed him and Alena, but I didn’t see any exchange of glances. between the two.
Could he be the hitman Alena hired?
“50 thousand.”
It was Kaleb’s voice. He thought it was Alena’s painting and was bidding to show his affection.
When he placed the bid, Alena followed him closely with a blush.
The people nearby couldn’t help but envy them, saying the two were close.
I found those praises ridiculous. What would people think if they knew what those two had done?
“80 thousand.” A cold voice in the room caught my attention.
I turned and saw that it was Terrence.
Why was he bidding on the painting?
The air was filled with tension. To Kaleb, it seemed that Terrence wasn’t just trying to win the painting.
“1 million.” Kaleb raised the bid again.
But Terrence calmly said again, “10 million.”
Whoa!
The entire room gasped. Was he crazy?
He was about to spend 10 million dollars on this painting?
Kaleb was stunned. In his disbelief, the next two paintings were also sold to Terrence at incredibly high prices.
Before Terrence left, I saw Kaleb quickly chase after him.
Kaleb placed his hands on the car door, his face grim. “Uncle Terrence, you spent that much money on those paintings. If Grandpa finds out…”
Terrence raised his eyelids and gave him a cold glance, filled with contempt.
“Do you think I’m like you? Loser?”
Chapter 12 & Professional
Kaleb hadn’t fully taken control of the Harrington family, so he didn’t
have his own money.
“Uncle Terrence, is this personal?”
Terrence gave him a meaningful look, his eyes full of hatred.
“Kaleb, this time, I won’t back down.”
