“Madam Kaufman, I agree. I’ll take the $8 million and leave Antonio.”
Chapter 11
Antonio’s mom, Nancy Kaufman, was thrilled instantly.
“I’m glad you finally came through. You’re just the maid’s daughter, and you’re not good enough for Antonio at all. He’s the heir of the Kaufinan Group. Where are you? Come over now. We’ll sign the contract.”
She then immediately sent Grace an address. Looking at her phone screen, Grace smiled self–mockingly and hailed a cab.
After she arrived at the cafe, Nancy asked her many questions.
She answered them all, and Nancy looked pleased and pushed over an agreement to her.
“Once you sign this, you can’t go back on your word. After you sign, I’ll transfer half of the money to your account; you’ll receive the remaining half on the day you leave. Do I have your word that after you get the money, you’ll never show up in front of Antonio again?”
The amount on the agreement was astonishing. As Grace gazed at it, her eyelashes trembled slightly.
Of course, she’d never show up in front of Antonio again.
She didn’t even want to see him again whether it was in the next life or the life after that.
Without hesitation, she picked up the pen and signed her name neatly
Nancy was finally relieved. She put away the agreement, stood up, and said to Grice, “You have two weeks.
“Feel free to change your name or go abroad. No matter what you gotta make sure Antonio can never find you again.”
Grace nodded. “I understand. Rest assured, Madam Kaufman.
After watching Nancy leave, Grace went home.
It was pretty easy to make sure Antonio never saw her again.
The Kaufman family had a military and political background, and the three generations of the family weren’t allowed to go abroad.
As long as she emigrated, Antonio could never see her again.
She spent most of the night researching relevant information and finally decided to emigrate to Australia.
After making up her mind, she picked up the phone to see what time it was, only to notice a new notification from Instagram.
Sofia sent nine photos in her latest post.
Three were selfies of her holding a bouquet of roses, three were photos of her wedding license, and the remaining three were photos of two pairs of hands clasped together.
Grace knew now that Antonio wanted no one to know about his marriage with Sofia, he’d never let Sofia send those photos.
Yet, Sofia sent them anyway.
Obviously, she wanted Grace to see them. Grace sensibly gave her a like
In the next second, Antonio sent her a message.
“Grace, I’ll be on a business trip and won’t be back for a few days.
She replied to him with an “OK” and then put down her phone to wash
imp
Early the next morning, she got up early and went out to handle her emigration paperwork.
She was in a hurry, so she applied for the expedited service.
Hearing the staff promise that it’d be done within half a month, she was.
relieved.
After getting into the car, she saw Sofia’s latest post on Instagram.
This time, half of Antonio’s body could be seen in the photo.
He and Sofia were looking at new houses, finally, they set their eyes on a villa in South Bay.
She gave Sofia a like again.
On the third day, she went to the company to resign.
After packing up her stuff at work, she went home and saw Sofia’s new post. Sofia was already in a wedding dress, the diamond ring on her ring linger shining.
As usual, she gave Sofia a like. Then she wrapped herself under the blanket.
On the fourth day, she woke up and saw another Sofia’s post.
This time, it was a wedding photo in Sofia’s new place.
Grace stared at it blankly for quite a while before finally snapping back to reality.
Again, she gave Sofia a like. Then she put on makeup and went out to have a meal with her friends to say bye.
At night, she went back with a few boxes for everything related to Antonio.
She tossed away everything, including his gifts for her, their matching toothbrushes and glasses, and photos they took together, all into the trash
can.
After she got rid of everything, it was late at night.
S and
She was about to turn off the go to bed when Antonio came
back.
He was stunned at the sight of the empty room, frowning.
“Why did you throw away so many things?” he asked.
She said flatly, “I got rid of them because I didn’t like them anymore. They can be replaced by new ones.
Antonio nodded, took off his jacket, and tossed it onto the couch. Then his attention was drawn by the boxes.
“You quit?”
After a pause, he saw what was on the coffee table.
“Why is your ID card on the coffee table?”
“I’m beat. I wanna rest for a while, so I quit. And the ID card–Ive got some paperwork to handle.” Grace explained while putting the ID card into her bag.
Seeing that she was so calm, Antonio didn’t dwell on it. He pulled her
into his arms saying gently, “I’ve been a bit busy and haven’t been around much for you. Your birthday is around the corner. How about I take you to the auction house tomorrow? You can pick a few gifts.”
Grace didn’t say no.
The next day, right after they sat down in the auction hall, Grace saw
Sofia.
Sofia walked up to them and sat down next to Antonio naturally.
For the entire night, he kept tilting his head while talking to Grace, not glancing at Sofia at all.
After the auction was over, he pulled her downstairs right away.
Before coming home, Grace went to the restroom.
When she came out, she saw Sofia being cornered by several people in the stairwell, and they were mocking her.
“Well, well. Isn’t this the noble Ms. Conley? She abandoned Antonio back then after he saved her. Look how miserable she is now. Serve her right, don’t you think, guys?”
“Sofia, I heard your dad wanted to marry you to some old fart. Well, to be fair, you’re kinda pretty. How about you get together with us? We’re always nice to pretty
He didn’t get to finish his sentence.
Antonio walked downstairs, pulling an extremely long face. Without hesitation, he kicked the playas with great force.
