Chapter 18
After arriving home, Grace took out her suitcase and started packing the last few belongings.
She was busy until dawn, Antonio still hadn’t come back, but she didn’t
care anymore.
The next day, Grace went to the Immigration Office and retrieved all her documents.
On the way back, she booked a flight departing this afternoon.
After the car stopped at the door, she saw the Rolls–Royce parked in the yard and couldn’t help but quicken her pace.
As she entered the bedroom, she saw Antonio walking towards the suitcase, as if he wanted to open it.
In a moment of urgency, she could only shout out the words, “Weren’t your with Sofia? How did you come back?”
Antonio froze completely.
He slowly turned around, and in the moment he lifted his head, there was unexpectedly anger in his eyes.
He walked up to Grace, his tone filled with deep helplessness. “Grace, what are you thinking again? I have said that Sofia and I will never have any connection anymore.”
Will there be no more connection anymore?
But you, in order to protect her, even got married.
Grace laughed until tears came to her eyes, but she still didn’t choose to expose him.
“That was a misunderstanding on my part.”
Antonio slightly breathed a sigh of relief when he saw no change on her face. “Tonight, the Kaufman family had a banquet, and my family has already agreed to let me bring you along.”
Upon hearing this, Grace was also stunned.
Did Antonio’s parents agree?
Antonio rubbed her head and handed her a card, as he watched her stunned expression.
“Grace, don’t worry, one day I will make them acknowledge you and stand by my side openly. I am a bit tired now and would like to rest for a while. How about having the secretary accompany you to pick out some suitable dresses?”
Grace stared at the card for a while and then took it.
“You rest, I’ll go by myself.”
Antonio rubbed his temples and nodded.
Grace put the just retrieved documents into her bag.
Antonio also lay in bed and fell into a deep sleep.
Grace looked at the face that was no different from when she was seventeen, and she was slightly lost in thought.
She lifted her hand for the last time, tracing along his brow and moving downward.
Perhaps sensing her small movements in the dream, Antonio grabbed her hand and murmured softly.
“Sofia, don’t make a fuss.”
Upon hearing this sleep–talking, Grace silently burst into laughter.
She withdrew her hand, lifted the luggage, and went downstairs.
The villa was very quiet, and the servants were all taking a nap.
No one knew that she had left.
On the way to the airport, Grace blocked and deleted all of Antonio’s contact information.
Then, she deactivated all her social media accounts.
The busy airport was bustling with people coming and going. She watched the flickering display screen and made her final phone call.
“Madam Kaufman, I have already arrived at the airport as scheduled and will board the plane shortly to depart.”
Nancy across the street was very satisfied, and her tone couldn’t hide the delight.
“Alright, as long as you didn’t show up at tonight’s family banquet, the remaining money would be transferred into your account, then goodbye.”
Listening to the boarding announcement on the radio, she shook her head gently.
“No. Madam Kaufman, it was never to be seen again.”
Afterwards, Grace hung up the phone, threw her mobile into the trash bin, and walked into the boarding gate.
Swift as a shooting star.
Without hesitation.
