Chapter 29 Stirring Trouble
Eden quickly caught up, asking cautiously, “Miss, where are we heading now?”
“To the coffee shop, Adeline replied in a tone devoid of emotion. “I need some time to quiet down.”

Eden nodded and didn’t ask further, simply following her silently. Justin stood still for a moment, watching her receding figure, a flicker of complex emotions passing through his eyes before he slowly followed them.
At a window–side table in the third–floor coffee shop, sunlight spilled over, brightening and warming the surface. However, this warmth couldn’t dispel the persistent chill in Adeline’s heart.
She picked up her coffee cup, sipped the bitter and cool liquid, then gazed out at the bustling crowd outside. The hurried passersby seemed like scenes from a play unrelated to her, and she felt like a detached spectator, belonging nowhere and participating in nothing.
Eden sat opposite her, watching her carefully but unsure how to break the silence. Just then, a familiar and unpleasant voice suddenly intruded,
“Adeline, why are you here alone having coffee? After such a big scene, I was really worried about you!”
Michelle strutted in on her high heels, dressed in an elegant, doll–like dress that made her look exquisitely cute. However, the gleeful look in her smiling eyes was both glaring and hypocritical.
Adeline put
down her coffee cup, didn’t turn her head, nor spoke, simply ignoring her with an almost indifferent demeanor. Yet, this indifference didn’t deter Michelle; instead, her smile brightened,
“Adeline, I heard Paige and Alicia were kicked out? Oh dear, they really don’t know when to stop talking. But don’t worry, I’ll definitely teach them a lesson for you, to ensure they never dare offend you again!”
Her words seemed to defend Adeline, but every word reminded those around–everything that happened was because Adeline had angered others, leading to the commotion.
Eden frowned, stepped forward, and blocked Michelle, his tone full of warning, “Ms. Michelle, please do not disturb Adeline’s rest if there’s nothing important
Michelle blinked, her face adopting a wronged and innocent expression, “Oh, I was just concerned about Adeline, don’t be so harsh…
Before she could finish, another sharp and grating voice cut in, “Wow, it’s lively here! It seems some people really start to act important once they climb up the social ladder!TM
Paige reappeared, stepping in on her high heels, her meticulously done makeup barely concealing the resentment and anger interwoven with jealousy, making the coffee shop’s atmosphere instantly tense.
She glanced at Adeline, then at Michelle, her lips curling into a sneer, “Michelle, you’re such a good sister! To curry favor with this fake noble, you’re even willing to lose your own face?”
“Paige, who are you calling a fake noble?” Eden, unable to contain himself any longer, stepped forward to shield Adeline, “Watch your words!”
“Do I really need to spell it out?” Paige scoffed coldly. “Who doesn’t know about the scandal that stirred up the whole town back in the day? Just a country bumpkin who got picked up by mistake, and yet she dares to put on airs here?”
