Seeing Leyla and I having physical contact,
Niko’s eyes became fierce.
As soon as I looked at Niko’s sinister gaze
and remembered my experiences in prison, I
couldn’t help but shiver.
But Niko smiled and said, “Welcome back,
Phillip.”
On the surface, he held my hand like a kind brother. “Let the past be the past. Phillip, I
forgive you.”
In fact, his eyes were cold and he almost
crushed my hand.
I was in pain, but I didn’t dare to resist. I was
afraid of making him unhappy.
Every time Niko was unhappy, the warden
would use various methods to punish me.
He cruelly pulled out my fingernails, pierced
my fingers with needles, and whipped me with
a whip with barbs. Every time the whip hit me,
it would tear off a piece of flesh….
The prison warden said that if I made Niko
unhappy, he would bring me back.
Thinking of the terrible memories and
consequences, I could only lower my head
and endure it silently.
Not to mention meeting him in person, even
the name Niko could make me physically
afraid.
Niko took me, who was dumbfounded, to the
Brooks family and handed me slippers,
behaving like a host.
When I entered the house, I realized that it
was completely different from what I
remembered.
My usual gray slippers were nowhere to be found, replaced by a pair of men’s dark blue
slippers.
What Niko handed me was disposable
slippers for guests.
The collectible figurine I placed on the coffee
table had been replaced by an exquisite vase
filled with various flowers, which was quite
lifelike.
However, I had rhinitis and couldn’t stand the
smell of pollen.
There were still a few records left on the
sofa, which were also Niko’s favorites.
All of this indicated that the house had a new
male owner.
Although I was Leyla’s legitimate husband.
Leyla saw me standing dumbfounded and frowned again. She said, “Why are you standing there like an idiot? There is a sofa.
Go sit over there.‘
I trembled and dared not sit on the sofa.
I sat cross–legged in a corner next to the
sofa.
I was dirty and lowly, and I didn’t deserve to
sit on the sofa.
That was where Leyla and Niko could sit.
Leyla was angry and helpless, “Why are you
sitting on the floor instead of the sofa? It’s
like someone abused you.”
“Well, Leyla. Phillip may have just been
released from prison and is not used to it.
Please don’t say that to him.”
Niko put on a hypocritical mask and held
Leyla’s hand.
Leyla frowned and said, “How can he not be
used to sitting on the sofa after coming out
of prison? Could anyone dare to abuse my
husband?”
As soon as Leyla said this, Niko’s expression
darkened, and he could hardly control his
contorted face.
He looked at me coldly, as if he was looking
at a dead man.
I trembled and straightened my back
reflexively, but I couldn’t speak because the
warden had given me medicine.
I could only gesture with my hands in panic
and helplessness.
I wanted to say that I wouldn’t snatch Leyla from Niko, and I wouldn’t be a threat to him.
I was begging him to spare me.
Seeing me gesticulating randomly, the only
sound that could come out of my throat was
a slight “ah“,
Leyla finally realized something, a trace of
panic flashed across her face, and her voice
involuntarily raised.
“Phillip, what’s wrong with your voice…”
Niko’s eyes flashed with guilt, he interrupted and said, “Leyla, when Phillip was in prison, he had a high fever. When the warden found out, it was too late. His vocal cords were
damaged.”
Niko nervously swallowed and held Leyla’s hand, “But I believe there is a possibility of
recovery, so don’t worry.”
However, Leyla became furious and smashed
the glass on the coffee table.
“Didn’t you say that the warden is your uncle
and will take good care of Phillip? Why did
this happen?
Why do I have no news about his situation at
all?”
She suddenly shook off Niko’s hand, and
shouted, “Get out! I don’t want to see you
now!”
