7 stayed up till the wee hours.
I scoured the entire floor, but I didn’t find any exit.
Feeling so cold and hungry, I lay down on a bed while wrapping myself in a blanket tightly.
Then I drifted off to sleep.
I had a dream of my days abroad.
I kicked violently, muttering, “Get off me.

“I have no money… I really don’t. Please… Leave me alone.
“It hurts… Dad, Mom, help…
“Why can’t I sell my blood anymore? I can do it. I’m up to it.
“Because I need money so badly, Doctor…”
My nightmares always held me captive. Every time, I had to endure them all, and only after that could I wake up. It was almost like punishment.
While I was drifting in and out of consciousness, someone who was standing next to me shouted, “What are you waiting for?
“Go get the doctor here!”

“Yes, Mr. Parker.”
Finally, my nightmare was over.

I turned over, curled up into a ball, and went back to sleep.
Soon after, I felt someone touching my hand.
Then cool liquid spread through my entire body via the veins in my arm.
I felt better.
“How is she?”
“She’s still burning up. Maybe her fever will break after three IV bags.”
Their conversation continued.
“There’s a room next door. Go rest there.”
“Mr. Parker, could I give Ms. Duarte a check–up? I might have to take off her clothes.”
…
The person who was speaking stuttered.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Parker. I didn’t… mean anything else. Maybe … you could take off her clothes.”
“What exactly do you wanna say?” It sounded like Trevon’s voice.
“It seems … Ms. Duarte’s body is covered in scars.”
There followed a long silence.
“Step out,” Trevon said.

When I was asleep, I felt someone touching my clothes.
Instinctively, I raised a hand to shield my body.
But I was so weak that I failed.
My upper body was stripped.
I was very mad.
“Don’t touch my clothes!”

Maybe because the person was very gentle–I wasn’t exactly scared.
I mumbled, “Could you please put my clothes back on?
“If I.catch a cold, the pain will flare up again.
“Some of the cuts just won’t heal…‘”
Amidst my sleep, I felt something warm.
A single drop of liquid fell onto my chest.
I actually dreamed of Trevon; it had been ages since the last time he showed up in my dreams.
And he was actually crying.
It was so dark in my dream. Maybe I saw it wrong.
I wanted to catch up to him to be sure.
But it was already dawn.
