Chapter 4
She knew Dominik and I were engaged, but she still tried every trick to seduce him.
In the end, with the fierce opposition from both families, she had to walk off.
Five years ago, I didn’t bother to explain. Five years later, I still didn’t feel the need to.
I never thought Dominik would just let it slide.
As the CEO of the Schwartz Group, he had the ultimate power in New York, but he didn’t seem to care about the rumors that were dragging my reputation through the mud.
He just let it spread and let me be humiliated.
Perhaps he was totally let down by me.
After all, I really made him look bad when I lost my cool at a fancy party.
The key point was, I lost it at his first crush, Aliana.
How could Dominik bear to see me slap Aliana in public?
I knew that he and Aliana were deeply in love back then.
But I didn’t push him to be with me. He could have chosen to leave with Aliana.
But in the end, he went for the power play, choosing the arranged

marriage between our families.
He ended up choosing me.

Over these five years, we had put on a great show as a couple in public.
I had done everything a wife should do, and Dominik had also played his part as a husband.
Apart from the fact that he didn’t love me, he had been perfect in every other way.
I fell hard for Dominik the moment I knew he was my fiancé.
I put up with his cheating and constant thoughts of Aliana because I loved
him.
I thought my sincerity would eventually move Dominik and make him feel. for me.
But I was totally wrong. He was a cold–hearted guy.
No matter how much I tried to warm his heart up, it was in vain.
We had been married for five years and I was in love with him for more than a decade. Yet, I had no more illusions about Dominik.
I wasn’t giving him another chance. He was just not worth it!
After the operation, I was all alone in the hospital for five hours.
During that time, Dominik didn’t contact me, not even a text or a call.
Throughout our five years of marriage, I had always been the one to make the first move.

I was the one who cooked for him and took care of his health.
I was more like his caretaker than his wife.
In marriage, the one who loved more always ended up giving more.
Dominik was so used to my constant care, my constant attention.
I knew if I didn’t call him, he would never make the effort to reach out.
But I was not going to do that anymore.
Later, a servant called me.
Donna Levy asked cautiously, “Mrs. Schwartz, are you okay?”
Donna had heard the news too, so it was obvious that I really made a fool of myself this time.
I kept my cool and said, “I’m okay. I’ll be home soon. Donna, could you make some chicken stew for me?”
Dominik walked in while I was having chicken stew. He looked totally haggard.
I glanced up at Dominik and then continued to enjoy the chicken stew
He came closer, pulled up a chair, and sat right across from me.
He stared at me. We sat there in silence until I finished the chicken stew and stood up.
Dominic finally broke the silence. “Elsa, you are way out of line this time! Did you know Aliana was in danger? How could you do this to her? I’m so disappointed in you.”

I stared at Dominic’s tired face.
Aliana was in danger, so he was at the hospital with her.
While he was there, worrying about their baby, my baby was gone.
Dominik didn’t mention my baby once.
It was clear that he never really wanted this baby.
It hurt to know the truth, but I had to face it.
Five years should be long enough to melt even the coldest heart.
How could Dominic be so heartless?
Was it just because he didn’t love me?

I looked away and said calmly, “I’m sorry about last night. It was all my fault. Should I apologize to Aliana?”
