“You knew Vicki just had a miscarriage, and you still made her kneel and apologize to you. What were you thinking?”
Rhoda was scared by his look. She started shaking uncontrollably and backed away.
“I didn’t mean it. I was worried that she would take you away from me.”
“Enough!” Charles yelled, cutting her off.
“We’re already engaged. What more do you want? Why did you have to drive Vicki away?”
“What more do I want?”
Rhoda’s eyes got red from Charles‘ yelling.
She was too angry to be scared and screamed back, “Don’t think I don’t know that while I was out of the country, you were already hanging out with Victoria!
“Don’t give me that childhood friend stuff. She’s more like your lover!
“So what if I’m dissatisfied? Victoria’s baby is gone now. She’ll never forgive you!”
Charles finally got it. “So you planned the car accident on purpose?”
“Yeah!”
Rhoda, in her anger, blurted it out before she realized what she had said.
If Charles found out that she was the one who caused the death of his baby, he’d probably kill her.
Her face turned pale, and she looked scared as she tried to fix things. “Charlie, I… I didn’t mean to hurt the baby. I didn’t know Victoria was pregnant. I just wanted her to stay away from you.
“I didn’t think it would be this bad. I’m really sorry. Can you forgive me?”
Rhoda threw herself at Charles‘ feet, grabbed his legs, and cried her heart
out.
Charles was so mad that he was shaking all over. He pushed Rhoda away and glared at her furiously.
“What’s the point of saying this now? You hurt Vicki and my baby!”
By this time, my mom had got the security camera footage from where the accident happened. There was a camera that caught the whole thing
Rhoda had set up.
She sent it all to Charles.
Charles watched the video, his eyes red and his teeth grinding.
“Rhoda, you’re really heartless! You even got yourself involved just to frame Vicki!”
Rhoda was crying even harder. “I didn’t mean it. Can you forgive me?
“We’re already engaged. I’ll have a baby for you, no, as many babies as
you want.”
Charles laughed coldly. His face looked scary, like something out of a nightmare.
“You killed my baby with Vicki, and you still think you can marry me? Dream on!
“I’m telling you, the engagement is off, and there’s no more funding for your family! You’ll go broke!”
When Rhoda heard this, her face was drained of all color.
“No! Charlie, you can’t do this! If my family goes broke, my dad will throw me out!”
But all she heard was the sound of Charles slamming the door as he left.
She fell to the ground, staring blankly and repeating, “It’s over. Everything’s ruined…”
