Chapter 80
After Lucy finished speaking, Sarah didn’t reply for a long time. Just as Lucy was about to so again, Sarah finally broke the
silence.
“Lucy, I think I’ve made myself very clear. I don’t have feelings for James anymore. We’re divorced, and I don’t want anything to
do with him. Keep that in mind–if you bring him up again, you’ll regret it.”
Sarah’s gaze was icy, piercing through Lucy with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine.
Lucy suppressed the anger bubbling inside her. She thought about what Charlotte had advised her and clenched her fists tightly to
stay calm.
“Even if it’s not for my brother, shouldn’t you go for Jane’s sake? Don’t worry, I’m genuinely inviting you. I just want you to see
how well my new sister–in–law treats me so you can finally let go. If you come, I’ll believe you don’t care about my brother
anymore.” 7
Sarah froze. Jane was attending Lucy’s birthday party?
Why would she invite Jane? Could Lucy have found out Sarah wanted Jane as a judge for the competition?
“You know Jane?” Sarah asked hesitantly,
Lucy scoffed. “Everyone at Adams knows you’re trying to get Jane to judge the competition. It’s no secret. Besides, Jane only decided yesterday to attend my party. She doesn’t seem to have time for anything else afterward. Are you sure you won’t come?”
“You invited Jane just to make sure I’d attend your birthday party?” Sarah asked, puzzled.
What exactly was Lucy trying to achieve, going so far as to invite Jane just to ensure Sarah’s presence?
“I’ve told you what’s going on. Whether you attend or not is up to you–unless you’re willing to give up on Jane,” Lucy said smugly, her smile brimming with satisfaction.
Sarah remained silent. She was torn, staring at the invitation sitting in front of her.
“Sarah, I really hope you’ll come to the party. Don’t disappoint me.” With that, Lucy left the counselling room.
Meanwhile, a post on the university forum sparked a frenzy: “Psychologist Jane to serve as a judge for this year’s competition-
true or false?”
The entire psychology department was abuzz
For psychology students, Jane was a revered figure, almost like a living textbook.
Even the school’s leadership was taken aback by the news. Professor Wells immediately called Sarah
“Professor Wells, what’s the matter?”

The forum post–are the rumors true? Did you invite Jane to be a judge? Why wasn’t this mentioned in the proposal?” Professor
Wells got straight to the point.
Sarah quickly opened the forum, realizing how much of a stir her plan had caused.
“Professor Wells, I wanted to try inviting her, but it’s not confirmed yet.”
“Well, the school administration has already seen the post. They’re planning to use this as a major promotional opportunity. It’s
been a while since we’ve had such excitement at Adams University. If it’s not finalized, don’t worry about the forum post for now.
I’ll explain the situation to the office.”

Sarah felt a wave of gratitude. “Thank you, Professor Wells.”
She had only mentioned her idea to the planning team. In just one day, it had turned into a public spectacle. Sarah knew exactly
who was behind the post.
The intention was clear: to force her to invite Jane–and to ensure she attended Lucy’s birthday party.
