Chapter 89
Jane smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “To be honest, I haven’t judged competitions in a long time, and I won’t be
the country much longer.”
“Your theories have always been a guiding light for Adams‘ psychology students,” Sarah said earnestly. “I know you’ve declined
International competitions, but I’d like you to look at these.”
She pulled out a stack of papers from her bag and handed them to Jane. “These are papers students wrote based on your theories.
Some have proposed new ideas. We’d love your feedback.”
Jane took the papers with surprise, flipping through them. “Thank you, I’ll review them carefully.”
Sarah felt relieved. Though she wasn’t completely confident about getting Jane’s agreement, at least she could get the students‘
papers to her.
As she turned to leave, Jane called after her. “What’s your take on tonight’s events, Miss Sanders?”
Sarah pointed uncertainly at the drama on stage. “You mean that?”
“What else could I mean? I must say, you handled it well. I might have been even harsher,” Jane gestured toward the control
panel.
Sarah instantly understood – Jane had seen through both Lucy’s scheme and her counter–move. “Thank you. I was just
protecting myself.”
Jane finished her champagne, set down the empty glass, and left.
Sarah and Zachary exchanged glances and shared a laugh. “You knew too?” she asked.
About the USB drive?
Zachary gave a noncommittal response. “I always keep an eye on you. You did well.”
“Are you teasing me? Both you and Dr. Lawrence saw through my amateur tactics,” Sarah pouted, having thought no one would
notice.
Under the spotlights, Zachary’s eyes gleamed like water, tinged with loneliness. “Why didn’t you ask for my help? No one would
have noticed if I’d done it.”
Sarah’s heart skipped a beat. Standing beside her, Zachary’s starlit eyes seemed almost tearful, his lowered gaze and fluttering lashes resembling an abandoned puppy.
Wait! He was more like a predatory wolf – she must be crazy to compare East Coast’s Mr. Reynolds to a dog.
“How could I trouble Mr. Reynolds with such a small matter?” she shrugged. Zachary was becoming more and more bewitching.
“Nothing about you is a small matter.” His dark eyes sparkled enchantingly.

A blush crept across Sarah’s cheeks. She quickly turned away. “Mind your image, Mr. Reynolds.” She hurried off, unable to face
him.
On the way back, after Mia’s persistent requests, Sarah finally agreed to let Zachary drive her home.
Mia chattered away, forgetting her earlier scheme to make Sarah sit in front. “Sarah, you should have seen how funny it was! Lucy was completely lost for words. Those reporters already took photos and videos – does she think everyone’s stupid?”
“Even with the photos and recordings, tomorrow’s news won’t show the Chancer family’s embarrassment. They’ll only report that Miss Chancer was harassed but fought it off,” Sarah said calmly.
“Why?! They caught it on camera!” Mia huffed indignantly,
