Chapter 92
“Alright,” Sarah said, walking over immediately.
Scarlett tossed her a carefully selected outfit and grumbled, “That scumbag! You’d better never see him again. The nerve to
you of cheating during your marriage!”

“I feel like I’m finally seeing him for who he really is,” Sarah replied, her gaze hardening.
Sure enough, Sarah’s hunch was correct. The next day’s news didn’t mention anything about the birthday party. Instead, it only
briefly touched on Lucy’s harassment incident, conveniently skipping over the rest.
When Sarah arrived at school, she couldn’t find her phone anywhere.
Just as she was about to go searching for it, Professor Wells appeared. “Sarah! I can’t believe you really managed to invite Jane
Lawrence! Did you meet her already?”
“What?” Sarah was baffled. “Professor, I saw her yesterday, but I didn’t get a definite answer!”
Professor Wells frowned deeply. “How can that be? I called you this morning, and you told me yourself!”
Impossible. Her phone had been missing since last night!
“Professor, something must’ve happened. My phone’s been lost since last night. Someone else must’ve answered your call and lied.” Sarah’s expression turned serious.
Professor Wells instantly caught on to the gravity of the situation. “Are you sure? Think carefully about where you might’ve lost
it and who could’ve taken it.‘

He added with concern, “This could be bad. The school administration already believes you’ve secured Jane Lawrence, and they’re planning to make a big announcement. They even want to invite media coverage to boost the event. If the dean called and the same person lied to them, the consequences could snowball.”
Sarah felt the weight of the problem settling in. Apart from the Chancer family, no one else bore her ill will. But who could have
taken her phone?
Her phone was password–protected, but answering calls didn’t require unlocking it. That made things worse rather than better.
“Professor, I’ll go find my phone right now,” Sarah said, knowing she needed to act fast.
Even if she couldn’t find the phone, she’d have to get a replacement SIM card immediately to prevent further issues. Still, the damage was done. The call had already created a massive problem, and the only solution now was convincing Jane Lawrence to
attend the competition.
But Sarah knew that wasn’t likely. Jane had been very clear yesterday–she wouldn’t participate.
Professor Wells’s face was grim. “You’d better hurry. I’ll head to the principal’s office to try and manage the situation.”

“Thank you,” Sarah said sincerely.
As soon as Professor Wells left, members of the event committee arrived. The leader of the group greeted Sarah with excitement.
“I can’t believe it, Professor! You really managed to get Jane Lawrence to come!”
Another chimed in, “I knew you could do it! When Jane arrives, I have to ask her for an autograph!”
“Professor, you should see the forums right now! Everyone’s singing your praises, especially in our department. It’s all about
you!”
One of the students handed Sarah their phone, and sure enough, the news of her “success” in inviting Jane Lawrence had gone viral. The announcement was trending at the top, with everyone excitedly discussing it.
“Actually, I…” Sarah hesitated. Faced with their enthusiasm, she couldn’t bring herself to admit the truth.
“We’ll leave you to it, Professor!” another student said cheerfully. “We need to get to work setting up the venue. With Jane
Lawrence coming, we can’t let her look down on Adams University!”
“Exactly! Thank goodness the event sponsor is Mr. Reynolds. Otherwise, we’d still be worried about stretching the budget!”
“Haha, let’s get moving–I can’t wait!”
The committee members waved goodbye and rushed off, their excitement infectious.
Sarah, however, stood frozen, unable to voice the words lodged in her throat.
