Chapter 8
Caleb subconsciously sat up straight.
I knew he was nervous now.
“It’s still not too late if you wanna regret it. Apologize to Moira, and I’ll pretend that nothing happened.”
He said so, pretending to be calm.
Moira said with her voice sounding somewhat aggrieved. “It’s OK, Mr. Yeager. Nothing’s more important than your and Mrs. Yeager’s happiness.
“Mrs. Yeager is still waiting for you to comfort her. Go, Mr. Yeager. It’ll be bad if Mrs. Yeager gets mad at you.”
Caleb glanced at me and snorted arrogantly, “She’s unfamiliar with this. place and doesn’t have any friends. Where can she go?
“I won’t comfort her. Women are all like this. I won’t indulge her.”
Although he said so, his glance towards me still carried a hint of expectations.
It seemed that he was waiting.
Waiting for me to go to him first.
In the past, every time we had a quarrel, I would always be the first to compromise.
This time, things were a bit different.
I indeed put down my suitcase and walked to Moira’s front.
The anger and jealousy in Moira’s eyes were so evident.
I knew she didn’t want me and Caleb to get back together.
She tried so hard to make us break up. How would she be willing to see a happy ending between us?
“Don’t overthink it!”
I spoke up before they could say or do anything, interrupting their thoughts.
“Give me back my dad’s merit medal.”
I looked at Moira and requested so.
That was the last thing Dad left for me.
He originally wanted me to take him to the Statue of Liberty’s front to complete his final photo with his comrade in arms and family.
But the day before the agreed date, that merit medal was gone.
If it weren’t for the unexpected situation that day, I would never have let it fall into someone else’s hands.
“What merit medal? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Moira was still playing dumb.
But I had seen her TikTok account. Not long ago, she was using that merit medal to pretend to be an orphan whose families were martyrs.
It worked, and she had attracted a lot of followers.
“I’m gonna give you to the count of three to take it out. If you don’t, I’ll call the police.”
I took out my phone and pressed down one number after another in Moira’s anxious gaze.
“It’s just a medal, a dead object! Why are you being so aggressive? You lost it yourself, and yet you’re blaming others? Didn’t you see her face turning pale?” Caleb interrupted me and forcibly smashed my phone to the ground.
“Enough of it, Fidelia! From the moment you came back, you’ve been targeting her. Can you stop being so mean?”
I looked at my smashed phone with red eyes and then slapped Caleb hard
in the face.
I yelled at him, “Just a medal? It’s a merit medal! And there are twelve of them! That’s my dad’s honor! How can I let someone else have it?”
Caleb was taken aback, touching his face in a daze.
He didn’t seem to expect me to get so furious.
