Chapter 5
“Grandma? What are you doing here?”
Cassian’s face turned pale as he jumped out of his chair. His expression resembled that of a frightened mouse spotting a cat.
Sophia was so furious that her body trembled. With a sharp, icy tone, she said. “If I hadn’t shown up, I wouldn’t have discovered that you sold your wife’s virginity. You’re really something!”
Cassian immediately looked down, awkwardly stumbling over his words, “We were just messing around. I thought Jocelyn was getting bored, so I took her out to have some fun.
“Grandma, come on, what’s the big deal? Why are you so upset?”
Cassian bent down to pick up the agreement that had fallen to the floor. Once he read it clearly, his playful expression vanished without a trace.
“Divorce Agreement”
His heart skipped a beat when he saw those bold letters.
“What… what does this mean, Grandma? Jocelyn and I are married legally. Why is there a divorce agreement?”
Sophia sighed, her voice filled with anger. “I was the one who pushed you two to marry. I knew you still had feelings for Emily, but I never expected you to do something like this!
“Fortunately, I left Jocelyn a way out. Here’s your signature. Just two days ago, Jocelyn came to me and signed it. Your marriage is ended now. She’s no longer your wife!”
Cassian’s eyes widened in disbelief. He flipped to the last page of the agreement, and sure enough, it had Jocelyn’s signature.
“How could she agree to divorce me? Grandma, you know she always tries so hard to make me happy. How could she sign this?”
Emily stepped forward to intervene, saying, “Sophia, you’ve got it all wrong. Jocelyn was having a great time with us. She willingly got into the crystal box to give everyone a fun surprise.”
Sophia scowled deeply, her voice sharp with accusation. “Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on. You seduced a married man! Do you think you can do whatever you want while I’m stuck in the hospital? My family isn’t yours to rule!
“How involved were you in turning Jocelyn into an auction item? I think you already know the answer to that!”
Emily blushed with embarrassment and quickly fell silent.
Cassian, sensing Sophia’s firm stance, softened his voice. “Then let’s stop this, okay? Grandma, please put away the divorce agreement. I can release Jocelyn right now. There’s no need for all this…”
Sophia’s anger flared when she saw his nonchalance. With a cold tone, she retorted, “You don’t need to free her! I’ve already done that. Jocelyn is free again, and I’ve had someone take her to her ex–boyfriend!
“In just a few days, she might be someone else’s wife!”
Right after he spoke, Cassian stepped back quickly, clearly frightened and stunned by what he had just heard.
T
“Grandma! How could you treat your granddaughter–in–law like that? She’s my wife!” Sophia narrowed her gaze and snapped, “You dare to call yourself her husband? I’ve never seen someone treat their wife the way
you do!
“You’re nothing but a disgrace to our family!”
Just then, the host began showing everything that had been displayed at the auction.
Sophia gave it all one cold glance before turning to Emily.
“All of this is yours now,” she said.
Emily was completely taken aback. She looked back at Cassian, full of confusion.
“Haven’t you always liked Emily? Fine, I’ll make your dream come true. But when you marry her, don’t cause any more embarrassment. You may not care about your reputation, but I still care about mine!”
After finishing her words, Sophia let out a cold snort and told her caretaker to help her walk out of the venue.
Emily was so thrilled by what she heard that she shouted in joy, “Cassian! Can you believe she actually agreed to let us get married? Isn’t this perfect for both of us? We don’t have to keep our relationship hidden anymore!”
Some of his friends also came over to celebrate, raising their drinks in his direction. “Wow, I didn’t think things would turn out like this. Cassian, didn’t you dislike Jocelyn? Now that your grandma supports you, you can finally be with Emily like you always wanted.”
