Chapter 127
“You’ve completely disgraced our family! Especially with those ridiculous things you posted on the forums. I can’t help your anymore!” James’s voice was cold, his patience wearing thin.
“James! Everything I did was for you!” Lucy shouted, her voice shrill with frustration. “That shameless woman cheated on you. while you were married, yet you gave her so much money and even the house! She married you just for the money! I couldn’t stand her, that’s all! How dare she act so shamelessly and still take what belongs to our family?”
“That’s enough!” James‘ face darkened further, his anger barely contained.
“This isn’t even about whether I can help you. Do you know who turned you in? It was the Reynolds family. No one can help you now. Reflect on your actions while you’re here!” With that, James turned and walked out without looking back
“Don’t go! James! You’re not allowed to leave!” Lucy screamed, slamming her fists against the door. Her outburst was short-
lived as two officers quickly stepped in to restrain her.
“Don’t touch me! I’m from the Chancer family!” she yelled hysterically, but her protests fell on deaf ears.
That evening, Zachary arrived with dinner and set the table.
As Sarah watched Zachary move around the kitchen while Mia sat quietly with a book, she had an odd thought.
This feels like… a family. A husband coming home from work to cook dinner, a child doing their homework nearby, and me…
relaxing here.
Wait, what?
Sarah shook her head, immediately cutting off the strange train of thought. What was she even thinking?
When she glanced back up, Zachary was looking at her with a soft smile, which only made her face flush.
“Why are you staring at me?” she asked, flustered.
“I called your name, but you were lost in thought. Come on, it’s time to eat,” he replied, moving toward her as if to pick her up.
Sarah instinctively dodged. “Mr. Reynolds, what are you doing?”
“I’m carrying you to the table.”
“There’s no need! My leg isn’t as bad as yesterday. I even walked a bit earlier when I took Mia to the hospital,” she said quickly.
Zachary ignored her protests and placed his arms beside her. “That’s because I wasn’t around to stop you.”
Her face burned as he effortlessly scooped her up. His hands, still warm from handling the food, were steady and sure.
By the time he set her down, Mia was already seated next to her, gripping the hem of Sarah’s shirt while glancing anxiously at

“Mia, I’m not going anywhere. Let go of my shirt and eat your food, okay?” Sarah coaxed, her tone gentle, almost maternal.
Mia, sensitive as ever, nodded but didn’t fully release her grip.
“Let’s eat, Mia,” Zachary said, placing a bowl of soup in front of her. He then set a small cup in front of Sarah.
As the familiar bitter aroma hit her, Sarah froze.
“Is this my medicine?” she asked, stunned.
Zachary walked back into the kitchen, returning with the empty medicine packet. “You didn’t drink it earlier today,”
Sarah stared at him, realizing what he had been doing while she thought he was merely reheating food. He’d prepared her
medicine too.
She swallowed hard, her fingers trembling slightly.
Stirring the soup absentmindedly, Sarah realized her stomach pain was already gone–something she hadn’t even noticed until
now. Yet, Zachary had.
“Zach, did you come to save us?” Mia’s sudden question broke the silence.
Sarah and Zachary exchanged a glance before turning to Mia.
“Yes, I’m here to save you,” Zachary said, his voice steady. “Mia, look closely. It’s me.”
Mia nodded emphatically. “Zach! But… you came too late. Way too late.”
Too late?
Sarah shivered as Mia’s words sent a chill down her spine, though she couldn’t quite understand why.
