Chapter 133
Sarah quietly finished her tea, her cheeks flushing red, and set the empty bowl down.
That evening, as Zachary prepared to leave, he turned to Sarah with a thought. “Tomorrow morning, I’ll pick Mia up and take her to visit my grandfather. Thank you for looking after her these past few days.”
Sarah smiled warmly. “I’ve already come to see Mia as my little sister.”
The next day at lunchtime, Sarah was enjoying a quiet meal. Mia had left earlier with Zachary. Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was James. Without hesitation, she declined the call, but he called again. With a sigh, Sarah reluctantly picked up.
“James, what do you want?” she snapped, clearly irritated.
“Sarah, don’t hang up. This is about Grandpa,” he said quickly.
“Mr. Richard? What about him?” Sarah’s tone softened. Of everyone in the Chancer family, Richard Chancer had always treated
her the best.
“His appetite’s been poor lately, and I’m planning to take him for a check–up. He’s been asking to see you. Could you come by and keep him company for a while?”
After a moment of thought, Sarah agreed. She couldn’t stand James, but she was genuinely concerned for Richard.
“Alright, I’ll come,” she said.
“I’ll pick you up now,” James offered.
“No need. I’ll get there myself,” she replied curtly.
James was silent for a beat before he reluctantly agreed.
An hour later, Sarah arrived at the Chancer family estate. Though she and James were divorced, the butler instinctively greeted her as, “Madam.”
“Not anymore,” Sarah gently reminded him with a smile. “I’m just Miss Sanders now.”
“My apologies, Miss Sanders. That was my mistake,” the butler said, quickly correcting himself.
He led her into the grand living room, where Richard’s face lit up the moment he saw her.
“Sarah! Finally, you’ve come to see me! Even if you’ve had enough of that no–good James, I’m still your Grandpa, aren’t I? Don’t forget about me!” he exclaimed with delight.
Sarah laughed softly and sat beside him “Grandpa, I’ve just been busy with the competition lately. But as soon as I got free, I
came to see you.
Richard sighed deeply, “I’ve heard all about it. That Lucy has been nothing but trouble. Instead of focusing on herself, she caused

a scene and even hurt you with hot water. On her behalf, I apologize. How’s your hand? Still hurting?”
“It doesn’t hurt anymore, but there’s still a bit of swelling,” Sarah replied with a reassuring smile.
Just then, James walked over, carrying two cups of tea. “Grandpa, Sarah, have some tea.”
Richard glared at James. “Hmph! Sarah coming over is enough. Why are you here? Just being around you puts me in a bad mood.”
James chuckled awkwardly but still sat across from Sarah. “Grandpa, I’m just worried about you.”
“Save it! I’m too old to handle your nonsense. Just don’t upset me, and we’ll call it even,” Richard huffed, taking a sip of the tea
James handed him.
“Sarah, come play a game of chess with me. I haven’t found anyone who can play as well as you,” Richard said, pulling her
toward the chessboard.
Sarah took the black pieces while Richard chose white.
James stood to the side, watching them play, though his eyes never left Sarah.
“Sarah, it’s been a while. Let’s see if you can beat me this time,” Richard teased.
Sarah laughed. “Grandpa, you’re the one who taught me Go. How could I ever beat you?”
Outside the Chancer estate, a car pulled up, and Charlotte stepped out, carrying a bag of health supplements. The butler’s eyes widened as he glanced toward the living room.
“Miss Garnett, why are you here?” he asked hesitantly.
“I came to visit Grandpa. I heard he hasn’t been feeling well,” Charlotte replied, her face adorned with a sweet smile.
