Chapter 146
Charlotte listened as ear at night.
thun Sugested Sarah was whispering in Zacha
While mother and daughter were ranting, James came home from work.
“Brother, why didn’t the Reynolds send us an invitation this time?”
James’s expression darkened. “How dare you even ask! After what you did to Mia, you still expect an invitation?”
Lucy protested, “But we’re the Chancers of the East Coast.”
“Enough! We’re nothing compared to the Reynolds. You attacked his sister – we’re lucky he hasn’t taken direct action against us.
Even without his word, several companies are terminating their partnerships with us. I barely managed to clean up your mess
don’t cause any more trouble!” James snapped.
Lucy fell silent, her face pale. She hadn’t known about any of this.
At Adams University, Sarah and Mia were leaving the counseling office.
Walking side by side, Mia handed Sarah an elegant black invitation card with gold embossing. “Sarah, my brother’s birthday is
the day after tomorrow. I’d like to invite you to his party.”
Sarah paused, taking the invitation. Zachary’s birthday?
“Your brother’s birthday is the day after tomorrow?” she repeated, puzzled.
Mia smiled. “Yes, and you’re the only one I invited.”
“Does your brother know?”
“I haven’t told him I gave you an invitation. But Sarah, I know he’d really want you there.”
She put the invitation in her bag, wondering what birthday gift to get him.
“Mia, what does your brother like?”
“Are you thinking about a gift? Let’s go shopping together tomorrow! Oh, and we need to try on dresses too. Come with me, Sarah!” Mia said excitedly.
“Sure, let’s go together.”
Summer was a rainy season, making people restless.
Sarah’s counseling office was getting busier – people crying over movies, breakups, relationship troubles all came seeking help.
After her last appointment left, a student entered with her head down.
Sarah looked at her curiously. “Can I help you?”

The student looked up – it was Lindsey!
Though Sarah had helped her before, she hadn’t forgotten what Lindsey had done.
“Lindsey, what brings you here?”
Lindsey was visibly nervous, her arms trembling as she stammered, “Lucy… Mia…”
Her voice was so quiet, Sarah could only make out the names.
“What about Mia?”
“Lucy went after Mia.” Her voice was barely a whisper.
Sarah jumped up, demanding, “Where?”
“The equipment room.”
Without another word, she ran out.
What was Lucy planning? She must have noticed something off about Mia last time!
The equipment room was on the second floor of another building. Sarah ran there breathlessly, hearing Lucy’s angry voice from
inside.
“Are you stupid, Mia? Haha, I can’t believe you’ve turned into an idiot! I heard you’re sick – are you crazy? I’m so curious how you
became such a fool!” she taunted.
Sarah was about to burst in when she heard Mia speak, her hand freezing on the doorknob.
