Chapter 15
Leah’s POV
“Ah, that sucker,” Lucian whispered to my car as he saw Lucas in the crowd. “Keep walking, Leah. Don’t be afraid. I’m with you.”
“I’m not afraid, brother. The only one who’s supposed to be afraid now is him.” I replied.
As I looked at Lucas, I couldn’t help but notice his handsome features. which were now etched with sadness. His once vibrant, piercing blue eyes. had lost their sparkle and now appeared as though they were carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. The creases around his eyes had deepened as if each passing day had taken a toll on his soul.
“That’s a man who has lost his sense of purpose,” Lucian said with hatred in his eyes.
“He’s just a man who has lost his wife,” I whispered. “Lucian, please, let’s just walk away…”
But it was too late. Lucas had already seen me. He looked surprised to see me holding Lucian’s arm.
“What are you looking at, Farrow?” Lucian asked. Then, he commanded in a cold voice. “Come forward.”
Lucas immediately approached us with a lowered head and clenched fists.
“Your Highness.” Lucas bowed slightly. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“I’m afraid I can’t say the same, Farrow.” My brother said in a detached

voice. It seemed that he wanted to peel off Lucas‘ skin with his eyes.
“Your Highness, I serve at your pleasure.” Lucas replied without lifting his head.
“Oh, really? In that case, why don’t you change into a dog and bark for me? That will definitely please me.” My brother shot back with a pressing
voice.
Lucas didn’t reply.
It was the most awkward silence in my life.
I nudged my brother and whispered, “Lucian, let’s just go to the stable and check on our horses.”
At that time, Lucas suddenly lifted up his head and stared at me with fury. I suddenly realized that he must have thought I was Lucian’s girlfriend or something.
I had never disclosed my true identity to anyone in my life, and I didn’t have any intention of explaining it to him at that time.
“What are you doing here, Leah?” Lucas asked me.
“Mind your attitude when you talk to Miss Lewyn, Farrow.” Lucian proved Lucas intentionally.
Lucas couldn’t hold his anger anymore. He grabbed my arm, pulled me toward him, and said, “Did you sleep with him, Leah?”
I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that my ex–mate would be so ill- mannered in front of a Lycan Prince.
I could see veins popping up on his forehead. I knew he was totally outrageous.

Gosh. I almost forgot how tall he was.
“Let go of her, Farrow,” Lucian commanded in a pressing voice.
Lucas still wouldn’t let go of me. His head was so close to me that I could smell the alcohol on his breath.
Now you see me. I thought to myself, turning my head away from him to avoid eye contact.
His anger was fueled by my reaction, so he raised his voice, “Answer me, Leah. Did you…?”
“No. But that’s none of your business. I’m no longer your mate. Now, you’ve heard what Lucian said. Let go of me. It’s for your own good,” I replied in a calm voice.
The soldiers swarmed forward and pulled me away from Lucas.
Looking at me drifting away from him, Lucas looked hurt.
Surprisingly, I felt hurt as well.
I couldn’t help it.
I used to love this man with all my heart.
I used to be his wife.
Old habits die hard.
At that time, I heard an annoying voice.
“Aha, Leah! It’s you!”
Josephine. That attention–craving bitch.

Josephine exclaimed in a high–pitched voice, with her nose pointing at the sky. “Why are you here? Do you work here as a maid or something? Your dress and necklace look expensive, I wonder whom you stole them from?”
Josephine and her usual overbearing attitude.
“Who are you?” Lucian leered at Josephine and asked.
Josephine immediately pulled out her usual innocent look and answered in a flattering voice, “Sorry, Your Highness! My name is Josephine Solis. I’ve always wanted to meet you in person! I was just overwhelmed seeing an old friend of mine.”
Then, she leaned forward toward my brother and lowered her voice “In case you don’t know, Miss Lewyn has just been rejected by her mate, so I’m concerned about her well–being.”
The soldiers pushed Josephine away from my brother and said, “Stay away from His Highness.”
Feeling thwarted, Josephine turned to me and leaned forward with
condolences.
“Hey, Leah. How are you doing?” She said with fake concerns in her eyes. “It must be tough for you these days. I understand that there’s nothing shameful about being a divorcée, but you do know you’re not supposed to be here, right?”
Her voice sounded sadistic and threatening.
My brother frowned and said, “I didn’t know that divorcees aren’t allowed to show up at a Derby. If that was the rule, Alpha Lucas isn’t supposed to be here, either. Right?”
Feeling toasted, Josephine turned to Lucas for help. But Lucas didn’t say
anything to save her as she had expected.
Instead, Lucas was staring at me with determination. He said, “I’ve rejected my mate, Your Highness. But I haven’t sighed the divorce papers.
So I’m still married.”
“Shut up. Farrow!” Lucian said in a threatening voice.
Lucas didn’t stop. He kept on with his speech without taking his eyes off me. “I knew nothing about her before I rejected her. I took her for granted. But now I understand I’ve made a mistake by letting her go. If I could meet her again, I would like to let her know that…”
“Shut up, Farrow!” Lucian interrupted him. His face darkened as if a violent storm was impending.
I grabbed Lucian’s arm tightly in my hands. The last thing I needed on that day was my brother jabbing my ex–mate in front of every Alpha in the Kingdom.
Lucas didn’t flinch and gazed at me passionately. It felt that nothing in this world mattered to him at all except me.
Josephine stared at me with jealousy and said, “Leah, if you were angry at me, I could apologize to you. Stop humiliating Lucas…”
“Miss Solis,” I cut her bullshit short. “Now that I’m a free, independent woman, I don’t need anyone’s permission to do anything. I don’t need anyone to tell me what I’m supposed to do or where I’m supposed to be. You, on the other hand, should pay attention to what you’re wearing. I’m not giving you any fashion advice here, but that dress makes you look like. a cheap escort. Cover that cleavage of yours with table linen or something, we’ve got kids running around here.”
“Touché, mon amour,” Lucian commented.

Feeling insulted, Josephine’s face turned white and red at the same time. Hearing whispers and giggles about her plunging neckline in the crowd, Josephine covered her chest with her hand with embarrassment.
Now, everyone knows her true face. She’s nothing but an attention–crying bitch. I smirked with great satisfaction.
Desperately, Josephine crawled behind Lucas to hide from the world. But Lucas, who was the only person that she needed to attract tonight, wasn’t even looking at her.
Instead, he was looking at me in my 50–million–dollar dress.
Holding my brother’s arm, I strode away with a triumphant smile.
At that time, I suddenly heard Josephine’s scream from behind.
