Chapter 24 The New CEO
Xander seemed broody when he visited Lenora. She asked him what happened and was told that one of the Finley Group had been losing money for five years.
The head office had financed 15 million dollars for nothing.
Nobody noticed the loss until Xander looked into it carefully. It was Rodney’s fault. He had made Livia’s relative the general manager.
Xander wanted to hire a new manager, but he didn’t want Rodney to take it personal.
Lenora’s eyes lit up.
She had recovered fully and was getting bored.
So, Lenora offered, “Dad, put me in. Tell them that you want to train me. I’ll take out that cancer of the company!”
“Are you sure?” Xander frowned. “You’re my girl. You don’t have to work and can just enjoy life. No need to get involved in this problem.”
“Dad!” Lenora pouted and swayed Xander’s arm left and right. “Let me do it. Don’t worry. I ran an office before.”
On her days with Zavier, Lenora had done a good job managing his
company.
Taking out a bad employee was a piece of cake.
It was the first time Lenora acted like a spoiled girl around Xander.
Xander didn’t have the heart to deny her and nodded. “OK.”
“Thanks, Dad.” Lenora beamed and asked Xander to keep her identity at secret. She’d manage the company with her ability, not her status.
Xander said yes to all her requests.
So, he only announced that the new CEO was a distant relative of the Finleys, not a word that Lenora was his daughter.
At 10 am, the next morning. It was rush hour.
Employees were coming and going in front of the office building. Many people noticed Lenora and gave her curious glances before hurrying into the office to punch in.
Lenora craned her head up to take in the entire building.
The skyscraper had 109 floors in total.
Her little company was on the 29th floor.
It’d been a while since she was in a working environment. Lenora suddenly felt a little out of place.
She gave herself a pep talk inwardly.
“I can do it!
“From now on, no more relying on others. I’ll build a future of my own.”
Lenora took a deep breath and walked inside. She swiped the card and got on the elevator.
The elevator was cramped with people and Lenora swiftly squeezed into a
corner.

The small space reeked of perfumes and deodorants, making people gag.
Lenora held her breath all the way to the 29th floor.
Once the elevator doors opened, Lenora staggered out and took great. gulps of fresh air.
If it was possible, she preferred working in Teblaria.
As Lenora calmed her breath, she straightened her pencil skirt and walked up to the front desk.
The receptionist was scrolling through her phone, her head on the desk. When she noticed Lenora, she looked up and said lazily, “Hello, do you have an appointment?”
Lenora frowned.
The receptionist was the first thing a client would see. Yet, she was lazy and unprofessional. The employees inside would only be worse.
Lenora cleared her throat and said calmly, “I’m the new CEO.”
Shocked, the receptionist dropped her phone on the desk.
She stared at Lenora in disbelief.
It was said that the new CEO was a young lady of the Finley family. But they didn’t say she was so beautiful.
With a face like this, she should be a star. Why come to work in the
office?
She was probably just a bimbo.
No matter how slack the receptionist was, she wouldn’t look at her phone

in front of the CEO.
“This way please.” The receptionist came out from behind the desk and led Lenora to the vice manager’s office.
Jaron Lyons, the vice manager, decided everything in the office. The staff would go to Jaron, not the general manager.
Lenora knocked on the door.
Someone said, “Come in.” and Lenora walked inside.
A tall man in a black suit was standing in front of the floor–to–ceiling window, his back to the door, not a lock of hair out of place. Lenora thought he was spacing out while staring outside.
Immediately, Lenora knew this man was Jaron, the vice manager and the only pillar of the company. He was the reason this company hadn’t gone out of business.
Jaron worked as the manager of a top–500 company in Teblaria.
When he studied abroad, Xander came across Jaron’s resume and was impressed by Jaron’s educational background and ability. Xander offered an extremely high wage, so Jaron quit and became this company’s vice
manager
Pitifully, this company’s manager was inept and liked to keep Jaron down. Jaron’s attempts to help the company had gone nowhere.
Jaron reported this to the head office repeatedly. But Rodney had brushed it under the rug every time.
“Hello,” Lenora said and sat down on the couch for guests without being told.
Jaron looked over his shoulder and was shocked by how young Lenora was, disappointment glimmering in his eyes.
He assumed the head office would send someone very capable to salvage this company. But here was just a young girl.
Jaron doubted she could succeed as a veteran like him had failed..
The last thing he needed was another handful.
Jaron didn’t know what to think at the moment.
He was an ambitious man.
As the vice manager, Jaron could just overlook the problems and still have this well–paid job. But he refused to quit and wanted to prove himself to Xander by developing the company.
Sadly, it didn’t work out.
“Hello,” Jaron said in return politely.
“Tell me the problems of this company,” Lenora said calmly. “I’ll fix them.”
“You will?”
Lenora’s confidence angered Jaron. He turned around, eyes blazing.
A young rich girl only knew how to spend money. How dare she claim that she could fix the problems he failed to solve?!
How ridiculous!
“You’re doubting me?” Lenora put her purse down on the table. “You haven’t seen me at work.”
Lenora could tell Jaron didn’t welcome her.
Given the man’s devotion to this company, Lenora decided to let his rude attitude slide.
Jaron glanced at his watch.
It was 10: 10 am.
He said to Lenora, “Time for the morning meeting. Come with me and you’ll see.”
Jaron grabbed a file from his desk and walked out without looking at
Lenora.
He didn’t care whether she followed or not.
The vein on Lenora’s temper jumped. She stared at Jaron’s back with a blank face before getting up and following him.
Lenora’s patience was running thin.
If Jaron continued to treat her without basic respect, she’d use her right as
the CEO.
In the conference room, several people sat by the long table. The seat for the CEO was empty.
Jaron walked in and glanced at the seat.
Usually, he was the one who sat on it.
Today, Lenora would take this chair from him.
He’d like to see what Lenora got.
Jaron’s gaze darkened over the thought as he sat down on the right of the
manager.
