Chapter 25 First Meeting
“Relax. Mr. Welch. No matter how hard–ass the new CEO is, we’ll force her to leave for you!”
“That’s right! I heard that she’s really young. A woman has no right to be the CEO!”
“Mr. Welch, you should be the CEO.”
“Women are only good at whining and crying. Only someone as cutthroat as you can manage a company.”
All executives but Jaron were busy pleasing a middle–aged man.
This man was Johnny Welch, Livia’s cousin. The so–called general manager of this company and the reason why this company was a mess.
Jaron had heard too many phony flatteries to even care.
The executives were all in Johnny’s pocket and they came to work only busy kissing Johnny’s ass.
“Nice. At the meeting, you should go as hard on her as you can. Once I become CEO, you’ll be rewarded!”
Johnny sat on the chair, spreading his legs egoistically as if he were at home.
Lenora walked into the conference
a sloven Johnny was. “Do you guy bom and frowned when she saw wha
have meetings every morning?”
Johnny didn’t look like someone who could attend morning meetings
diligently every day.
“Of course not.” Johnny snorted, glaring at Lenora like a viper. His eyes brightened as if he had seen a treasure.
What a beauty! Her features were chiseled like a statue of a goddess.
First, he’d have her job as the CEO. Then, he’d have her too!
Indulging in his fantasy, Johnny spoke even more arrogantly, “I called this morning specially for you. I don’t think you’re capable of this job. You should quit.”
Lenora arched a brow
So, Johnny was trying to scare her off.
“Really?” Lenora sat down on the CEO’s chair, her hands folding on the desk. Her sharp gaze swept through every man in the room. “What makes you think I’m not capable, Mr. Welch?”
Before Johnny opened his mouth, his lapdog jumped in.
“Accountable said that the company account was drained. Since the head. office cut us off, we’re five days behind on paying the staff’s salaries this month. Many of them believe we’re going out of business and hand in their resignation.
“This is a serious crisis. You’re a woman. You can’t handle it!”
Other Johnny’s sidekicks spoke up too.
“We haven’t paid the final payment of our latest batch of materials. The suppliers stop doing business with us. Without materials, the factory is now shut down. So, no new products. Our old products are too outdated to sell. Every day, we’re losing money.”
11:54
Each of them excitedly talked over one another, pointing out the problems.
Lenora listened without a word, her face blank of emotions.
So far, the problems they mentioned matched the information Lenora knew. At least, they were being honest.
‘Alright. Enough.”
Johnny said curtly, efficiently cutting off the heated discussion. People
*pped complaining and waited for Johnny to speak.
“There’s only one way to save this company.” Johnny stood up and looked down at Lenora. “Go back wherever you’re from.”
He pointed at Jaron. “You need to go too.”
As long as Jaron was here, he’d be Johnny’s obstacle of asking for more funding.
It was a chance to get rid of this pain in the ass too.
Jaron tensed and clenched the file in his hands.
He didn’t expect Johnny would go after Lenora and take the chance to fire him.
Lenora arched a brow. “I understand why you don’t welcome me here. But why do you want to fire Jaron?”
“Ever since he became the vice manager, the company has been in
trouble. We’re about to close. He should leave if he still has even a bit of decency!” Johnny sounded so righteous when he pinned all the problems
on Jaron.
Lenora was taken aback.
Johnny’s shamelessness had shocked her. He was lying through his teeth.
Lenora glanced at the man who spoke for Johnny. Obviously, they were his sidekicks.
She said calmly, “I have one question for you, everyone. Do you know who hired Jaron to be the vice manager?”
“Are you stupid?” One man looked at Lenora scornfully as if she was an idiot. “You’re a Finley. Don’t you know this company belongs to the Finley Group? Naturally, Jaron is hired by a Finley.”
Other men nodded in agreement.
Lenora scoffed inwardly and glanced at Jaron. He hadn’t said a word.
Looked like Jaron never told them he was hired by Xander.
And Johnny didn’t tell anyone that Jaron worked for Xander.
These idiots didn’t know Johnny was merely using them and were proud to be his sidekicks.
“Didn’t you know that Xander was impressed by Jaron and hired him?” Lenora snorted.
Besides Jaron and Johnny, other men in the room paused.
They had never heard of it and looked at Johnny, their gaze pleading Johnny to defend them.
If Lenora was telling the truth, Jaron could report this to Xander and screw them over.
Η
Jaron was shocked too.
Only he knew that Xander sent him to this company to sharpen his skills. and to spy on Johnny. Where did Lenora get the information?
Suddenly, a thought hit Jaron.
Not long ago, Xander reunited with his long–lost daughter.
Could Lenora be….
Jaron believed he discovered a big secret. The discovery was shocking.
If Lenora was Xander’s daughter, why didn’t Xander get her a job at the head office? Why ask her to clean up this mess?
Johnny scoffed, “Yes, Jaron answers to Xander. So what? Rodney is my cousin–in–law. If you want to compare our relatives, mine is more powerful.”
Lenora took a sip of the tea, hiding the mocking glimmer in her eyes. “As you’re firing Mr. Lyons, I assume you have a way to get the company out of the conundrum, right?”
“You bet!” Johnny sat down heavily and said smugly, “We need money. So, I’ll ask Rodney for money. He’ll give it to me, no matter what. So, I can save the company easily!”
Johnny was confident. Rodney seemed like an ATM machine to him.
Lenora narrowed her eyes.
So, Johnny was using the Finley’s money to support the Finley’s company? What a plan!
And she bet Johnny would skim a large part of the money.
No wonder he looked so well–off. Greedy pig.
Lenora put down the cup and took out a stack of files from her purse. She threw them on the desk and looked at Johnny scornfully.
“Since the first day you worked for us, you’ve been partying with our money. You steal money from the company’s account whenever you need it. That’s where most of the funding goes.
“You should be grateful for the manager position. How dare you dream of being the CEO?! Try me! I’m reporting you to the head office and Rodney will know his cousin–in–law is corrupted!”
Before Lenora could finish, Johnny slammed his hand on the desk angrily.
“Your last name is Finley. But it doesn’t mean anything! How dare you investigate me?!”
