Chapter 28 Did You Run Into Your Enemy?
The next moment, the divine smell of the soup filled the ward.
Randall was gonna refuse to drink it before he smelled it.
“I’ll be responsible for your meals before you are discharged.
“I’m doing this because you saved me twice, so don’t refuse me.”
She was amused to see him put the files in his hands aside.
But then, the amusement turned into sadness.
She was a good cook because of Zavier.
Zavier used to love the food she made. Every time he got ill, he would pester her to make soup for him. Thus, she became a better cook over time.
Before that, she hated cooking, because she didn’t want to smell like cooking fumes.
But she overcame it for Zavier.
The memories of Zavier wrung her heart, so she accidentally spilled the
soup.
Randall got up immediately, so the warm soup didn’t spill on him.
Lenora was pulled back to the present by what he had done and apologized to him in panic.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean it. Did you get hurt?”
Your Enemy!
Lenora was so worried that her eyes turned red. She reached out her hand to check him out for the wound but didn’t know what to do.
When he looked at her anxious face, his annoyance faded away.
“It’s OK. The soup didn’t spill on me. No worries, “he said and gave her a searching glance, wondering why she had looked so sad.
But he had no right to ask that.
“I asked the doctor when I came.
“He said you needed to avoid strenuous movements. You must have pulled your wound when you stood up.
“I’ll fetch him to check if it opened up,” Lenora said with guilt.
She knew that the soup hadn’t spilled on him, so she was only worried. that his wound had opened up.
Only then did Randall feel his back was stinging.
The wound must have opened up.
As expected, his attending checked his wound and said with certainty, “The wound opened up a little.”
Hearing that, Lenora felt guiltier.
She was here to express her gratitude for Randall, but she made his wound open up.
Noticing she was guilty, Randall comforted her subconsciously, “It has nothing to do with you. I already felt something was wrong with my back in the morning.”
11 MD
He didn’t understand why he would have said that.
“Right. The wound didn’t open up just now,” his attending agreed.
But the wound did open up just now.
Lenora could tell that they had said that only to ease her guilt.
Thus, she forced a smile and tried to sound like she didn’t feel guilty. “I
see.”
The doctor was going to redress Randall’s wound, so Lenora stepped out of the ward to wait.
However, she saw 2 familiar figures.
Without hesitation, she turned her side to them to avoid meeting their
eyes.
Melany tugged at Zavier’s sleeve and mumbled with dissatisfaction, “What are you doing?
“You promised my dad that you would go with me for a check–up. Why did you pull me here?”
Melany wondered what was wrong with him. After all, the OB department was a few floors away.
They were waiting in a line there when he took her over to look for something.
“How…
“I saw her. Why isn’t she here?” he murmured blankly, too lost in his thoughts to hear Melany.
He had seen Lenora’s figure, so he ran after her.
She was his sweetheart. He couldn’t mistake someone else for her.
But why couldn’t he find her?
“What did you say? You rushed here because you saw that bitch, Lenora?”
Melany heard him mutter Lenora’s name, so Melany looked angry.
It’d been a long time.
The police had confirmed Lenora’s death and told them to register it. Why was he still hung up on her?
“Zavier, listen, I’m the one who’s with you now, and I’m pregnant with our baby.
“If you don’t get over Lenora, I won’t keep this baby. I’ll go and make an abortion appointment now,” Melany said in fury.
Her loud voice drew many people’s attention, including Lenora.
Lenora’s heart ached.
She didn’t expect them to have a baby already.
Right then, Randall’s attending walked out, so Lenora rushed in.
But Zavier saw her at that moment.
“Nora!”
Pop–eyed, Zavier forced his way through the crowd and ran to Lenora.
That made Melany panic. She wasn’t sure if he had seen Lenora, but she
gripped his hand with clenched teeth.
“Don’t go!
“You agreed to go with me for the check–up. Let’s go back to the OB department now!”
Melany refused to release his hand no matter what.
In the end, she shouted that her stomach was in pain, so Zavier could only take her to the OB department.
Hearing their voices disappear, Lenora let out a sigh of relief.
Randall raised his eyebrows. “Did you run into your enemy?”
Lenora forgot that she wasn’t alone in the ward, so she was startled and
screamed.
When she realized what she had done, a blush crept to her cheeks.
“Sorry. I was thinking about something else.
“Was your wound redressed? Did the doctor say something when I was
outside?”
Lenora gathered her thoughts and walked to him with a worried stare.
If she could, she would take off his top to check him out for the wound.
