Chapter 6
Herman pulled some strings to check the properties registered under my
name.
To his shock. I didn’t own any real estate at all.
Even the apartment we’d planned to use as our marital home was no longer under my name.
Finally realizing something was wrong, Herman rushed out of the hotel, desperate to head back.
But Bethany, dressed in a wedding dress, appeared at the entrance and blocked his way. “Herman, Hollie must be mad at you for forcing her to donate blood. A woman this petty doesn’t deserve you!
“The guests are all waiting for the wedding ceremony. Why not marry me instead? I’d devote my life to satisfying you.”
As she spoke, her fingers traced circles on Herman’s lower abdomen.
Had it been any other time, Herman might have fallen for her seduction in
an instant.
But today, he slapped her hand away and coldly said, “Bethany, I’ve made myself clear. We’re strangers now. If you ruin my wedding with Hollie, I won’t hesitate to tell your father where you are!”
Tears instantly streamed down Bethany’s face. “Herman, do you really feel nothing for me? Was it all a lie when you said you wished you could die in my arms?”
Herman could no longer tolerate her tears. Desperate to get home, he

shoved Bethany to the floor. “My wife can only be Hollie!
“I’m going to pick her up right now. Do me a favor and disappear from my life forever!”
With ruthless determination, Herman kicked Bethany away as she tried to cling to him. Then, he rushed into his car and sped off.
He ran through over ten red lights on his way back home, his legs trembling with panic.
When he checked the security footage, he clearly saw the housekeeper throwing out bags of trash.
All the things I had once cherished were discarded without hesitation.
Herman felt like he had been stabbed in the heart a thousand times.
He clutched his chest and dialed my number, his face pale.
But the calls weren’t answered.
He tried to text me, only to realize we hadn’t chatted in 17 days.
During those 17 days, he had indulged in unrestrained pleasure, completely forgetting that I even existed.
If it hadn’t been for the reminder in his planner last night, Herman wouldn’t have even remembered that he was supposed to get married.
Even though he had been reluctant to part with Bethany, he had decided to go through with the wedding as planned.
After all, those 17 days had been the most exhilarating and unrestrained of his life. And my obedience and devotion had earned me the reward of a wedding as scheduled.

But now, faced with the current situation, Herman had no idea what to
- do.
He stammered like a lost child, asking his friends over and over, “What do I do? Did Hollie really leave me?
“That day, she said she didn’t need me to marry her… Did she already plan to walk away?”
Seeing him so dejected, his friends tried to comfort him, “Herman, what man doesn’t mess around with other women? Hollie will come through. She just needs time to realize she can’t find anyone who loves her more than you do.”
“Exactly! Herman, just wait a few days, and Hollie will come back!”
“If you ask me, you should hold a fake wedding with Bethany. Hollie ran away because she’s certain you love her and will stick to the agreement to marry her. She’s trying to teach you a lesson. It helps her control you after marriage.”
“If you panic now, your life will be a living hell later!”
Hope flickered in Herman’s eyes.
He nodded eagerly.
“Yes, that’s it! Hollie always said she would never leave me. If she sees me marrying Bethany, she won’t be able to stay hidden!
“Let’s hurry back and hold the wedding. Let’s stream it live! When Hollie contacts me, I can tell her it’s all just an act!”
