Chapter 3
I smiled and turned away from this suffocating place.
Anthony turned anxious. He never heard me call him like that before.
“Karina, wait, listen to me…”
He was about to catch up to me, but Luna suddenly grabbed her stomach and cried out, “Anthony, my stomach hurts.”
Anthony’s expression tensed, and he immediately turned to check Luna.
My heart ached. I smiled bitterly and didn’t stop. I left the hospital.
As soon as I stepped out of the hospital, my phone buzzed with messages from two people.
Anthony seemed a bit unhappy. “Karina, our divorce is because I don’t want to be a burden for you. Please understand and don’t make a fuss.”
“I only treat Luna as a friend. You clearly know about my relationship with her, so don’t be petty. I’m busy, and you should understand me. I’ve ordered you some food and sent it to your rental house. Don’t let the baby in your belly suffer.”
The baby in my belly was already gone.
I sniffled and thought, “He always tries to make it up to me after he hurt
me.”
For his slight tenderness, I stayed with him for so long.
Now I didn’t need it anymore.
The second message was from Luna.
She sent a picture of a marriage certificate.
“Karina, do you know why Anton wanted to divorce you? He’s in a hurry to marry me!”
In the photo, Anthony had his arm around Luna’s shoulder, and they were both smiling brightly.
I thought of myself in the past. I used to smile like that too.
“By the way, Anton didn’t go bankrupt after all. Look at the expensive. diamond ring he bought for me. Isn’t it beautiful?”
I laughed until my eyes were red. I didn’t reply to their messages.
Over the next few days, I applied for my passport and visa, and I also quit most of my part–time jobs.
I only had one job left at the bar. The manager said I could finish the shift today, and he would pay me all at once.
I pushed the rubbish bin into a private room, and I heard a familiar voice.
“Everyone, enjoy your drinking today. It’s my treat!”
“Wow, Anthony is so happy to marry Luna?”
“You don’t know. Anthony has been suppressing his feelings for a long time. If it weren’t for Luna going abroad, how could he marry Karina?”
“Anthony liked Luna since he was young. When Luna had a fever, Anthony drove her to the hospital and took care of her. And when a boy confessed his feelings to Luna, Anthony was so angry that he kicked the boy out of New York. When Luna went abroad to study, Anthony heartbroken and he even cried!”

“Oh, but Karina is pregnant, right? Anthony, you don’t care about that?”
The person who spoke looked at Anthony, and Anthony stared at Luna. with a smile, saying. “I actually care about her. I promised Karina that I would remarry her later.
“But I don’t want her child. I only want the baby with Luna.”
Everyone chuckled, understanding without further explanation.
I took a deep breath, feeling a sharp pain in my heart.
The lights of the bar were dim. I didn’t want Anthony to find me here, so I quickly put down the wine and turned to leave.
Just as I reached the door, I heard Anthony call out to a waiter.
“Stop, turn around.”
I was so nervous. When I was frozen there, Luna was pretending to be drunk and falling into Anthony’s arms.
“Honey, I’m so sleepy.”
Amidst the cheers, Anthony picked up Luna and walked past me.
As they left the room, I clearly saw Luna give me a victory gesture.
After finishing my shift, I left the bar with a heavy heart. Then I ran into Luna and Anthony at the exit passageway.
Anthony looked at Luna with a cold gaze. “Go have the child aborted. Don’t let me say it again.
“I’ve already deceived my friends to protect your reputation, and you must keep your promise. You know I only love Karina.”
