The next day, I met with my team.
“We’ll recruit senior management for Zenith
Tech. This is the proposal. Let’s familiarize
ourselves. We start tomorrow. I’ll meet the
client tonight.”
The room was silent. Everyone watched me.
After the meeting, my assistant looked at me
with admiration.
“CEO Lily, this is a done deal! Three years ago in the UK, you recruited half of ICM’s
management team. Their CEO thanked you personally. Your reputation is everywhere.” “We’re so lucky to have you! Team Lily forever!”
Before I could reply, a tall figure entered. Derek. He carried a large bouquet of red
roses.
“The meeting’s over. Lily, I got these for you. | booked a restaurant downstairs. Let’s have
dinner.” He sounded expectant, confident, as
if there was no distance between us.
My colleagues left quietly. He’d never given
me flowers in our six years together. He
probably didn’t think I deserved them. Sarah
had a piano recital for her birthday. He rented
the city’s most luxurious estate. He flew in
500,000 Ecuadorian roses. I’d never heard of
Ecuadorian roses until then

frowned. “Derek, we have nothing to talk
about.”
He softened his tone, but he was still
possessive. “I know I messed up. Give me a
chance. Remember when you ran the
restaurant? You said you wanted a flower
shop. I’ll fund it. Daily deliveries from Ecuador
and Holland. How’s that?” He forced the
flowers into my hands.
I threw them in the trash. “Keep them for
Sarah.”
His confident expression froze. He opened his
mouth to speak, but Ethan interrupted.
“If that’s your way of wooing someone, it’s
pathetic. Besides arranged marriages, you’re
destined to be alone.” He was taller than
Derek, looking down at him with disdain.
Then, to me, “I’ll pick you up after work.

haven’t had that since you left.”
I nodded. Derek’s face darkened. He clenched
his fists, his voice filled with suppressed
anger.
“Lily, is this why you won’t come home with
me?”
Ethan spoke, “Mr. Grant, Lily doesn’t want
anything to do with you, not because of me.
You’re a terrible person. She deserves better.‘
“Lily is now the General Manager of FMC
China. Charles, the chairman, appointed her.
You want her in a tiny flower shop. Your love
is pathetic.”
Derek glared at Ethan, grabbing his collar.
“Who are you? I have a son with Lily. He’s ten
years old. Lily, have you forgotten Alex?!”
I looked at his hopeful eyes, felt nausea, and
put down my phone. “Conference room, now.”
Before Derek could attack Ethan, I called
security. They restrained Derek. I looked down

at him, “You claimed amnesia. Our life in the
small town didn’t matter. You wanted to be
with Sarah. Now you remember your
promises? Amazing medical miracle.”
His amnesia was exposed. He panicked,
speechless.
“Lily, I… I’m really sorry…”
I ignored him, taking Ethan’s hand and
leaving.
