Alex looked like Derek. His confidence was
the same. He still thought he held a special
place in my heart. He didn’t know I’d been
く
hated, despised, and murdered by my own
son. Seeing me struggle in agony shattered
any motherly bond.
I ignored him. “Impossible.” I contacted Derek
to take his wife away, and ordered security to
keep them out.
Alex was shocked, realizing I’d given up on
them. He called me “Mom.” Derek accused
me of heartlessness, trying to guilt me. His
voice was filled with anger, disappointment,
and a hint of pleading.
“Lily, you’ve changed. We don’t matter to you
anymore? You don’t know how much we miss
you, what we sacrificed…”
I remained impassive. “You don’t matter.
We’re closing a $7 million deal. Disturb us
again, I’ll call the police.”
Derek took his family away, defeated. I
breathed a sigh of relief.
