Sarah maintained her composure throughout the tirade. “Are you finished?”
She had heard far worse insults. These socialites were all the same, using their status to belittle others.
She saw no point in engaging with such people.
Her dismissive r response only fueled the woman’s anger. She shoved Sarah. “How dare you talk back to me?”
Her entourage quickly chimed in, “Do you even know who you’re talking to? This is Victoria Kourtney, daughter of Stellar Media’s CEO.”
Stellar Media?
One of the largest entertainment conglomerates on the East Coast, even more influential than the Chancer family. No wonder she acted so entitled.
Sarah responded with subtle sarcasm, “I’m just a university psychology counsellor How could I possibly be acquainted with someone of your status?”
“Are you mocking me?” Victoria’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Let me make this clear! Don’t think that just because you’re pretty, you can do whatever you please. The East Coast elite isn’t a circle you want to cross. Besides, plenty of women have their sights set on Zachary. You’d better keep your distance and stop throwing yourself at him.”
“Miss Kourtney, there’s clearly been a misunderstanding. I’ve never pursued Mr. Reynolds, nor have I acted inappropriately. This is his birthday gala. Let’s not create a scene.” Sarah attempted to step away.
But Victoria blocked her path. “What are you implying? Do you actually think Zachary would choose you over me? Don’t flatter yourself!”
“What if I would?”
Sarah froze
Sarah froze as Victoria and her companions turned toward the new voice.
Zachary strode over, positioning himself protectively beside Sarah and drawing her close.

“Victoria, you’ve misunderstood the situation. The truth is, Sarah isn’t pursuing me I’m pursuing her,” Zachary stated with cool authority.
His tall frame shielded Sarah, like a barrier against the hostility. She felt momentarily stunned by his presence.
His confident stance, standing firmly before Victoria, declaring those words with such conviction.
Victoria faltered, her complexion fluctuating between pale and flushed. “Zac, I didn’t mean… I just heard the recent gossip and…”
“What gossip?” Zachary asked.

questionable. Are you sure about this? Or are you just seeing what she wants you to see?”
