Chapter 164
Her words had worked the irritating knocking finally stopped, followed by the sound of the elevator. James was gone at last.
Charlotte brought James home and dumped him on the bed.
She could no longer contain her fury. To be humiliated like that in front of that woman!
Sarah must be feeling so smug right now!
But she wouldn’t give up. James was hers!
A few days later, Sarah submitted her paper to the Psychology Journal. It would probably take about a week to hear back.
As she was sketching g notes on paper, a pop–up news window appeared on her computer. She moved to close it.
But then Zachary’s face appeared. He was giving an interview, looking handsome and dignified on screen, radiating quiet confidence and authority.
She found herself thinking of his words at the birthday gala, about liking her.
Her pen pressed harder against the paper, and without realizing it, she had filled the entire notebook page with Zachary’s name. When the news ended, she looked down and blushed at what she’d written.
The door opened, and Mia bounced in.
Since fainting after their last therapy session, she hadn’t had any episodes. Everything seemed back to normal.
Sarah instinctively tried to cover the notebook with her arm, but couldn’t hide it completely.
“Mia, are you here? Feeling unwell today?”
“No, Sarah! I want to ask you something!” Mia looked at her hopefully.
Sarah took the chance to close the notebook and set it aside. “What is it?”
“There’s a charity auction in a few days. Would you co
you come v
with me?” Mia pleaded.
“I can’t. Those auctions are for people like your brother. I wouldn’t fit in.” Besides, she had nothing to bid on.
“Okay.” Mia looked disappointed but knew Sarah wouldn’t change her mind.
She stayed with Sarah for a while. When the class bell rang, she turned back at the door with a grin. “I saw it, you know.” Mia made a silly face and ran off.
Sarah reopened the notebook. Zachary’s name filled every page. Why had she written his name?
She ripped out the p
page and crumpled it, about to throw it away, but hesitated. Instead, she smarthad a… a

tucked it in her drawer.
She really was going crazy…
Before leaving work, she called Professor Wells to tell him about submitting her paper.
His voice was warm over the phone. “The Psychology Journal? That’s prestigious. If you succeed, you’ll be another star professor
at our university.”
“Professor, if you think it’s okay, I can send you the paper to review.” His opinion as her mentor would be reassuring,
‘Sure, send it to my email.”
“will d do.”
After hanging up, Professor Wells saw Lucy still standing in his office and felt annoyed. “Why are you still here?”
“Professor Wells, is this how you talk to your students?”
Professor Wells snorted. “Lucy Chancer, please leave.”
He couldn’t understand why Lucy would come to him for psychological counseling.
Lucy was angry but didn’t dare make a scene in front of Professor Wells. She turned and left.
