Chapter 173
Zachary’s face was tense as he asked urgently, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Zac. I was just taking photos. What’s wrong?” she asked worriedly.
Zachary took a deep breath. “It’s Sarah. She went to rescue you.”
“Rescue me? What do you mean?” Mia’s eyes widened.
Zachary quickly opened the car door. “No time to explain. Get in!”
Once inside, he explained everything to her.
“What?! That’s impossible! My phone died – I couldn’t have answered any calls!” Mia pulled out her phone in shock.
His assistant sat in the passenger seat, frantically tracking the license plate.
Zachary gripped the wheel tightly. He’d received Sarah’s call during his meeting. She hadn’t spoken when he answered, despite his repeated questions. He’d almost hung up, but thankfully stayed on the line long enough to hear crucial details.
He’d immediately ordered a search on Grace’s background and the license plate number.
After checking security footage and seeing Mia safe, he realized Sarah had been tricked!
In the abandoned building, Sarah stared fearfully at Grace. “Think carefully! Don’t do something you’ll regret! You said you’d show me Mia, Where is she?”
“You really care about her, don’t you? Rushing out without even checking if it was real. I worried you might not fall for it, but clearly I needn’t have.” Grace placed paper and pen on the table. “Write! Now!”
Sarah threw them to the floor. “So Mia wasn’t kidnapped? You lied about that how do I know what else you’re lying about?”
A cold blade pressed against Sarah’s throat, making her freeze. “You’d commit murder?”
“Write!” Grace screamed manically
“Give me paper and pen” Sarah’s voice trembled.
Grace withdrew the knife and retrieved the writing materials.
Sarah wrote a few words slowly. “I can’t work like this. I need a computer.”
“No!” Grace snapped.
Sarah realized Grace was alone this was clearly impulsive
“Okay, forget the computer. But I need reference materials. You know papers require research. I need citations. You could download everything onto an offline computer. How about that?”

This time Grace considered it. Sarah continued, “I can’t escape. You have my phone, there’s only one exit, and you

Grace thought for a moment. “Behave yourself.”
She left, presumably to get a computer.
Sarah was tied to the chair, but her hands were free so she could write.
She worked at the ropes behind her back, finally loosening them after struggling with the tight knots.
She barricaded the door with the chair and furniture. She spotted an old window in the wall, sealed shut probably why Grace
thought she couldn’t escape.
She found a brick and smashed the window.
The crash startled Grace, who ran upstairs, pounding on the door. “Open up!
Sarah!”
