Chapter 195
Before Lucy’s sentencing, her lawyer presented a psychiatric evaluation diagnosing her with severe paranoid delusion and
bipolar disorder.
Instead of prison time, she was committed to a psychiatric facility for treatment and monitoring.
After the verdict, Sarah met with Grace.
Grace laughed bitterly. “I knew it wouldn’t be that simple.”
Sarah shook her head. “We did everything we could. Even in a psychiatric hospital, she’ll have to live as a patient and undergo
treatment. That might be harder for her.”
“Miss Sanders, did you send my daughter to her grandmother’s?” Grace asked anxiously.
Sarah nodded. “Yes. Behave well and you might get parole. I’ll keep an eye on your daughter and help if needed.”
Grace nearly cried with gratitude. “Miss Sanders, thank you.”
At City Psychiatric Hospital.
A police car delivered Lucy. A black Mercedes waited outside as James entered the director’s office.
Thirty minutes later, the beaming director showed James out. Police escorted Lucy inside, where doctors took her to the director’s office. After arrangements were made and the director promised special supervision, the police left.
Lucy sat in the waiting area with relief, looking smugly at the director. “Where’s my brother? He told you everything, right? Isn’t he coming for me?”
At the police station, her lawyer had explained everything. She just needed to cooperate, and someone would help her leave.
James emerged from the shadows, his face stern.
“James! I knew you wouldn’t abandon me!” Lucy rushed toward James but was met with a slap.
SMACK!
She touched her stinging cheek in disbelief, tears welling up. “Why did you hit me?”
He’d never struck her since childhood.
James spoke coldly. “Didn’t I warn you? After your detention, I warned you to stay out of trouble! You’ve caused the family enough problems, but you still wouldn’t listen! Do you know how much work I’ve done to fix this mess?”
“It’s all because of her! You never should have married her. How dare she take so much of our money and end up with Zachary? I couldn’t stand it.” Lucy sobbed.
“Shut up! Behave yourself. You’re going abroad and never coming back.”

James grabbed her wrist. “Don’t you understand? You can’t stay in the East Coast. You’re now a psychiatric patient – your only
chance at freedom is treatment abroad.”
“No! I’ve paid too high a price!” She’d agreed to being labeled mentally ill, becoming the biggest joke among the city’s elite.
Every media outlet was covering the story. Her reputation was ruined.
James had no patience for her complaints. “Let’s go home. Mother’s worried.”
Lucy wiped her tears and followed.
As they reached the door, Zachary entered with his entourage.
James and Lucy paled. “You… why are you…?”
Before Zachary could speak, the director rushed forward. “Mr. Reynolds, what brings you here?” He noticed Reynolds Corp executives and two lawyers behind Zachary.
