“I’m here to discuss donating new medical equipment to the center,” Zachary looked at James. “Mr. Chancer, are you here to
collect Lucy, or just visiting?”
James lowered his eyes. “Just visiting my sister.”
“Finished then?” Zachary said coolly.
James gritted his teeth. “Yes. Your timing is perfect, Mr. Reynolds.”
“Then you should leave.” Zachary glanced at the director.
The director quickly said, “Mr. Chancer, we’ll take good care of your sister, don’t worry.”
James saw the legal team among Zachary’s group. If they discovered anything suspicious, he’d never get Lucy out.
He nodded to Lucy but noticed she was staring at Zachary.
Lucy blushed at the sight of him. His refined looks and elevated status had fueled countless fantasies of them together.
These feelings showed as she approached him. “Mr. Reynolds, I…”
“Director, we have business to discuss. Perhaps show Miss Chancer to her room?” Zachary said coldly.
Lucy froze. The director motioned for staff to lead her away, but she broke free. “Mr. Reynolds, has Sarah been saying bad things about me? She’s manipulative – don’t believe her.”
Zachary fixed her with an icy stare, tapping his knee as the office temperature seemed to drop.
But Lucy recklessly continued, “Mr. Reynolds, I’ve always admired you. I tried to befriend you at events, but Sarah must have poisoned you against me.”
James cut in sharply, “Lucy, stop talking. Go to your room.”
“James! Why does everyone defend that woman? I’m telling the truth!” She turned back to Zachary mockingly, “Mr. Reynolds, did you know Sarah took several properties, cars, and eight million from our family in the divorce? She can live luxuriously now. She’s just a gold–digger – don’t let her fool you.” 2
“You insult my girlfriend to my face and expect me to believe you? Don’t let me hear this again.”
He smirked at the director. “Since your staff is useless, let me help.”
He gestured, and two men stepped forward to grab Lucy’s arms and remove her.
James watched helplessly. “Lucy…”
But he dared say nothing more – the Reynolds had always dominated the Chancers.

As Lucy was taken away, he turned to find Zachary watching him. “Aren’t you leaving?”
James clenched his fists and left silently.
