Chapter 197
Some patients shouted at her, “Are you the new horse? I’m a white horse – what breed are you?”
“There’s someone behind you, you know. She’s clinging to your back.”
Just hearing this covered her in cold sweat. Even in her room she found no peace – all the patients were screaming. She felt close
to breaking.
She told the doctors and nurses countless times she wasn’t mentally ill, but it was useless.
Her psychiatric evaluation showed bipolar disorder and paranoid delusions, so the nurses treated her like any other patient.
That night, after violently injuring a nurse, Lucy was put in a straitjacket. With her hands bound, she was miserable.
She’d never experienced anything like this. Why were the doctors and nurses treating her this way when her brother had arranged everything?
She couldn’t stomach the medication or even the food.
In the cafeteria, she flipped her tray, spilling food everywhere, then shoved away the orderly who came to clean up.
A doctor approached with medication, looking irritated. “Lucy, having another tantrum?”
“No! Look at this food – it’s inedible!”
The doctor glanced at the overturned tray. The meals included fresh vegetables and meat.
Used to luxury dining, Lucy couldn’t handle such basic food.
“Lucy, the medical staff eat the same meals you do.”
“I want out! I’m not crazy!” she screamed.
Her shrieking triggered other patients. They covered their ears and started screaming too, some running around wildly.
The cafeteria descended into chaos as Lucy angrily pushed past the doctor, trying to escape.
While staff calmed the upset patients, a doctor approached Lucy from behind with a sedative, injecting her neck. She collapsed instantly.
Lucy was restrained again. Her behavior was disturbing other patients, and she’d attacked staff.
She had to wear the straitjacket for three full days – pure torture. She could only lie there, needing permission even to use the bathroom.
She felt less than human, more like a caged animal.
At night, the howls and screams from all directions made her delirious. She fantasized about rescue.
Chapter 197
When Mrs. Chancer visited, she was shocked by Lucy’s appearance – haggard, hair disheveled.
“Lucy, are you alright?” her mother’s voice trembled.

It took Lucy a moment to recognize her mother’s voice. She burst into tears, describing her misery in the hospital.
Her crying broke Mrs. Chancer’s heart. “Lucy, of course I want you out. Your brother’s trying everything, but the Reynolds won’t budge.”
When James donated equipment, Zachary donated better equipment. When James donated one building, Zachary donated two.
“It’s all Sarah’s fault! She’s making Zachary do this!” Lucy sobbed.
Leaving, Mrs. Chancer took two videos to James’s study – their trump card to save Lucy.
