Chapter 1
My roommate has double standards.

He doesn’t allow anyone to sit on his bed, yet he lets me sleep in it.
He refuses to accept water handed to him by others, but he’ll snatch away my cup after I’ve drunk from it.
I always thought this was how close friends behaved in the city, until people started spreading rumors that we were dating.
I began deliberately avoiding him, only to be cornered against a wall.
He bit my lip until it bled and growled, “Evan Mason, I won’t allow you to avoid me anymore.”
Noah Prince, born into the wealthy Prince family, stands nearly six feet tall. He’s handsome, but suffers from severe germaphobia and has a volatile temper.
That’s how others describe Noah.
But with me, he seems different.
He doesn’t allow others to sit on his bed, yet he lets me sleep in

He refuses water offered by others, but will grab my bottle after I’ve drunk from it.
And he always shows extraordinary patience with me.
I always thought this was normal behavior between good friends in the city.
But yesterday, Dylan Walker asked me, “Evan, you and Noah are so close. Are you two dating?”
Dating?
“Can men date other men?” I asked him, confused.
“Of course, didn’t you know that?” He stared at me in shock, as if he couldn’t comprehend how anyone in this day and age could ask such a basic question.
I shook my head. I come from a small village.
We don’t have such things there.
There are many things I didn’t know about New York.
When I first arrived in New York, I learned that buildings could be built so tall.
That you didn’t need to hitch a ride to a distant market far from the village to buy things.

I was mesmerized by the magnificent, dazzling sights before me, and accidentally bumped into Noah and his friends as they were leaving campus for a bar.
I stepped right on his shos.
His friend shoved me and yelled, “Hey, what are you doing? Are you blind? Clean Hoah’s shoe right now
I hurriedly crouched down.
But Noah pulled me up. “It’s fine.”
He glanced at the luggage I was carrying. “Aren’t you tired carrying all that? I’ll help you take it over. Where are you staying?”
He was so land.
He wasn’t even angry that I stepped on his shoe, and he offered to carry my luggage.
“No need, I can manage,” I quickly replied.
“It’s no problem, we’re not doing anything anyway.” He motioned for the others to take my bags.
With empty hands, I stood awkwardly looking at Noah.
He raised an eyebrow at me. “If you don’t say anything, we’ll just be standing here at the entrance all day.”

Chapter 1
Left with no choice, I told him, “I’m in Building Four, room 512.”
But then they carried my luggage to Building Five and were about to go inside.
In a panic, I grabbed Noah’s sleeve, and under the meaningful glances of his friends, I whispered, “I live in Building Four.”
Noah explained with a straight face, “Oh, that building is full. I checked earlier, and the dorm manager said everyone arriving after Christmas should go to Building Five.”
And so, Noah and I became roommates.
At the beginning of the semester, I was worried about getting along with my roommates.
But my concerns were unnecessary, as Noah was very friendly. We quickly became good friends.
I felt lucky.
But then Dylan told me that men can date other men.
We’re just good friends,” I looked Dylan in the eye and explained seriously.
He snickered, “Have you ever seen Noah treat anyone else like he treats you? Why doesn’t he have germaphobia with you specifically?

“Don’t tell me that’s how all good friends act. He has friends he’s known much longer than you. But have you seen him treat any of them this well?
“I’ve known him for over a decade, but I’m not allowed to sit on his bed. Why are you?”
I didn’t know how to argue.
Sensing my confusion, he sneered, “Evan, let me give you some sincere advice–stay away from Noah while you can. His family is way out of your league.”
