After that, Jesse seriously started chasing after me. He somehow got my class schedule and made sure to sit next to me in every class. If I was late, he’d save me a seat and wait with a grin.
But he soon realized I always disappeared right after class, so he tracked
down where I worked.
When he saw me drenched in sweat, frying fries like crazy, he didn’t say anything and just left.
The next day, my manager told me my pay was doubled, and I’d only have to work one day and get two off.
My God! Unexpectedly, there was such a good thing! I almost burst into tears and hugged the manager.
He said a new coworker would be starting that night. I never expected it
to be Jesse.
Even in a work uniform, he still looked rich.
Jesse became my night shift coworker and took over all the work–frying fries and chicken wings.
“A girl shouldn’t be doing something this dangerous.
“What if you burn your skin?”
Beads of sweat rolled down his cheeks, and I gently wiped them away
with a tissue.

Jesse smiled and said from now on, he’d handle the frying, and I’d just be in charge of wiping his sweat.
“Don’t you think we look like a married couple?”
Just looking at his face made my heart race like crazy. Thankfully, the kitchen was loud, or he would’ve heard it.
It wasn’t until later that I found out–Jesse had bought the place.
And yet, he still worked the night shift with me for six whole months.
Eventually, I found a part–time job with better hours. That’s also when I finally agreed to be his girlfriend.
I knew Jesse came from a good family, but I never imagined he was from the Livingston Group.
From the moment we got together, the gossip never stopped.
Once, Jesse took me out for a meal, and one of his close friends said I was all looks and nothing else. Jesse lost it that day. After that, no one dared say a word against me.
He’d always been attentive and kind. I never thought he’d fall out of love one day.
I stayed in the bathroom for a long time. Nathan knocked gently, asking if I was alright.
When I opened the door, he saw my tear–streaked face and bloodshot
eyes.
His face tensed. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around me.
He walked me out of the private room.

Jesse came after us.
“Nathan, where are you taking her?”

I shrank into Nathan’s arms, not wanting Jesse to see me in such a mess.
Nathan gently lifted my face and kissed me.
My eyes widened:
Behind us, Jesse’s expression turned dark.
“Nathan, don’t go too far!”
Nathan let go of me, but his gaze locked onto mine.
“Too far?
“But Sienna is my girlfriend.‘
After saying that, Nathan took me away, leaving Jesse standing there
alone.
That night, Nathan and Jesse had a huge argument over the phone.
“Nathan, I told you not to touch Sienna! She’s my girlfriend.”
“Sienna only knows I’m her boyfriend now, and your girlfriend is Winnie. Tell me–do you think Sienna would forgive you if she found out you were hooking up with her best friend?”
“Get lost! Stop threatening me! Sienna will only marry me in this life. Fine, forget about the kiss. But please, I beg you, don’t sleep with her.”
Nathan didn’t respond and hung up the phone.
