Chapter 7
Maggie stepped out from behind a nearby tree, her gaze steady as she looked at Amber.
“We’re friends, so it’s no big deal to give each other a ride home, right?”
Amber’s face alternated between pale and flushed as she forced a smile. “Yeah, I overthought it.”
Maggie gave a brief glance at Jeffrey before walking ahead.
Jeffrey quickly caught up but remained silent, offering no explanation.
Maggie had just returned home when Roland sent her a message on WhatsApp, “We’re planning a farewell party for you this Friday. You have to come!”
Maggie smiled to herself.
She looked up at Jeffrey and asked, her tone calm, “I have a party this Friday, would you like to come?”
Jeffrey was taken aback, surprised by the invitation.
It was the first time Maggie had asked him to one of her par.
When their eyes met, his heart skipped a beat for reasons he couldn’t explain, and he found himself nodding before he realized it. “Alright, I’ll go.”
On the day of the party, Maggie arrived right on time after finishing work.

Her friends gathered around her, reluctant to let go. “Now that you’re leaving for Germany, it’s going to be so hard to see you. We really don’t want to say goodbye.”
Maggie smiled warmly, embracing them in return. “It’s okay, once I’ve made my name in Germany, I’ll bring you all over and take care of you.”
It was only at that moment that my friend burst out laughing.
Roland glanced at the door, looking confused, and asked, “Didn’t you mention that your boyfriend would be here too? Where is he?”
Maggie was about to respond when she suddenly heard Jeffrey’s voice from behind.
“Did we arrive too late?”
Maggie turned around, her eyes widening as she saw that Jeffrey had indeed arrived, but Amber was still standing beside him.
Everyone stared in surprise at the scene.
Jeffrey calmly explained, “Amber found out we were headed to a party and wanted to join. Is that okay with everyone?”
Maggie gave a tight smile.
Of course, she wasn’t happy about it, but since Amber had shown up, was it possible for her to just ask her to leave?
“Please, come in,” was all Maggie could manage to say.
The dinner that followed was incredibly awkward:

Jeffrey served more food to Amber in front of Maggie’s friends, saying, “Here, these braised short ribs are your favorite.”

Roland couldn’t help but let out a cold snort. “Jeffrey, your girlfriend didn’t get her favorite dish. Why don’t you get some for her?”
Jeffrey stood there, momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond.
Maggie could tell he had no idea what she liked.
“It’s fine, I’ll get it myself.” She smiled awkwardly and began to turn the dish on the table.
The dinner ended in an awkward silence.
Roland, still not ready to give up, suggested, “How about we head to the board game lounge next door and play Werewolf after we’re done eating?”
Maggie froze.
She understood that Roland was trying to help, but she was planning to break up with Jeffrey the next day.
Just as she was about to turn the offer down, she saw Jeffrey actually nodding in agreement.
The group headed to the game lounge with excitement.
Roland eagerly took on the role of the moderátor, and after handing out the identity cards, everyone closed their eyes.
The game moved quickly, and after a few rounds, the situaton on the table became clearer.
There were two werewolves in the game. Jeffrey was a seer and successfully identified the first werewolf, leaving only one.
Maggie was the witch. After revealing her role, she managed to survive to the final round using her antidote.

Whether by chance or fate, by the end, only three players remained.
Naturally, Amber was the last werewolf.
Maggie glanced at Jeffrey and remarked, “You’ve confirmed my identity. If you join me in voting for Amber, we can secure a victory.”
Amber was aware that her true identity had been revealed. She couldn’t think of a defense, so she pouted and said, “Jeffrey, I promise I’m not a werewolf. Can you trust me just this once?”
Roland rolled his eyes. “Fine, let’s vote.”
Maggie and Amber pointed at each other as if nothing was amiss, then turned their attention to Jeffrey.
Jeffrey thought for a moment, feeling everyone’s eyes on him.
Finally, he spoke firmly, “I vote that Maggie is a wolf.”
Maggie was taken aback.
Before she could respond, she heard her friend scoff. “Are you
serious? What’s the point of playing games like this? Maybe we should
just stop and rely on cuteness to get votes instead.”
Hearing this, Amber’s eyes filled with tears.
She looked at Jeffrey with a sorrowful expression, then addressed everyone. “I don’t understand what I’ve done wrong to deserve being singled out. If you don’t want to play with me, I’ll just leave‘
With that, she stormed out.

Jeffrey immediately stood up, glared at Maggie, and accused her, “It’s just a game, why are you making such a fuss about it?”

After he said that, he moved to follow Amber.
Maggie instinctively grabbed his arm. “Don’t go.”
She was surrounded by her friends, and the thought of Jeffrey walking away made her feel embarrassed.
Jeffrey’s eyes briefly shifted, clearly realizing this too.
But in the end, he gently pulled away from her grip and said with courtesy, “This meal is on me. Please, everyone, eat as you like.”
Without another word, he turned and left.
He had made his choice, he would leave her and go after Amber.
Maggie stood still, staring at his retreating figure, a deep sadness filling her heart.
The room went quiet.
Roland looked regretful. “Sorry, Maggie, I didn’t expect things to end up like this.”
Maggie snapped back to reality and forced a smile.
“It’s okay. I understand you were standing up for me. But today was just practice for me. Without them, we can speak mòre freely, right?”
Under the lights, her eyes were unexpectedly red.
But she smiled and lifted her glass. “Cheer up! It’s actually a good thing that I’m leaving. You have to wish me well, just wish me…
She paused for a moment, then spoke, tears welling up in her eyes, “Wish me that after I leave, my future will be full of success, and may all my wishes come true!”
