Chapter 25
Maggie’s heart jumped again.
She didn’t know how to handle the phone call, but hesitantly answered
- it.
What’s wrong?
Felix didn’t know what she had just been through, and he smiled and said, “What’s wrong? It’s time to get off work now. Of course, I’m asking if you want to go out.”
So it was.
Maggie sighed.
There were too many things happening today, she just wants to drink and let off some steam now.
Without much thought, he replied directly, “Forget it, let’s make plans next time.”
Felix’s voice paused for a moment, and without saying much more, he readily agreed.
Maggie hung up the phone.
Quickly send Roland the address: “Nightfall Bar, come quickly.

Jeffrey had just come out of the laboratory when Albert dragged him to the bar.

Albert, with his thick eyebrows and big eyes, didn’t seem like one of those who also loved drinking.
Jeffrey was not fond of going to crowded places, but Albert’s words, “Don’t you want to let off some steam?” persuaded him to go.
And once we arrived at the bar, this thought had turned into regret.
Everyone in the dance floor was crazily shaking their heads, forgetting everything.
Jeffrey picked up the wine glass and kept drinking one glass after another, it seemed not for venting, but for getting drunk.
But before he got drunk, he heard his own name.
With a sudden jerk of the hand, he turned his head and saw Maggie.
She was wearing a bright red dress, with delicate makeup on, and was jokingly teasing him with Roland.
Yes, I was cursing at him.
Upon hearing what happened today, Roland slapped his hand down directly, causing the men around him to involuntarily shudder.
How can Jeffrey have the face to make up with you? Hasn’t he caused you enough misery? You wasted a whole ten years on him.
How many decades can one person have? Why did Jeffrey treat you like that?
Roland gritted his teeth and said, “He should also experience the taste of constantly seeking but never obtaining, that’s what karma is all about.”
Maggie chuckled, Jeffrey is a well–known figure in the physics

community, and with such a large laboratory, what you’re asking for is probably something he’ll never experience in his lifetime.”
Jeffrey listened quietly, then tilted his head back and drank another glass of wine.
Bitter beyond words.
Maggie didn’t care what was on the table, she just kept drinking one glass after another. Anyway, these wines all tasted sweet and didn’t seem to have a high alcohol content.
But she forgot, those sweet–tasting wines, several glasses of which were specially brewed strong wines.
So, Maggie quickly got drunk.
Muttering to himself, “Actually, this can’t really be blamed on Jeffrey.”
Jeffrey’s body jerked suddenly.
His hand tightened around the cup as he gradually moved closer in her direction.
Maggie didn’t know he was right behind her, and she replied frankly, “From his perspective, I am indeed not much different from the scumbag who suddenly dumped him. If one day I come home from work and find all the luggage in the house empty, and my boyfriend ends things with a breakup text, I would also feel upset.”
She also added importantly, “Even if I don’t love him.
Jeffrey listened, frantically searching for a solution in his mind.
“No, I love you very much.”
Unfortunately, no one could hear it again.

Maggie drank another glass of wine in silence, her mind a little fuzzy: “But tell me, what was Jeffrey really thinking? Why is it that when I love him, he can’t see me at all.”
But now I don’t love him anymore, and he comes up to me eagerly again. Does he have any special preferences that he can’t show to others?
