Chapter 9
Thanks to my memories from my past life, I managed to ride the wave of web series, securing the rights to several popular shows and making
a fortune.
Cheryl came to me asking for a chance, and for Liam’s sake, I gave her a supporting role.
Unfortunately, it was in a revenge drama, and her character just kept getting slapped around by everyone.
Liam showed up with Cheryl, her face swollen from all the slaps, to thank me. I had to use all my willpower to hold back my laughter.
With multiple hit shows under my belt, I earned a nomination for Best Producer.
That night at the awards ceremony, as I stepped out of the stretched Lincoln, a familiar figure appeared on the red carpet.
“Ms. Wilson… It’s been a while,” Caden said, flashing a flattering smile as he cautiously and submissively lifted my skirt.
I gave him a sideways glance. The once–dashing heir of the Parrish family was now drained by the struggles of bankruptcy.
His tall frame now appeared slightly hunched.
He looked at me with a hopeful expression.
“I have a patent available. Not sure if you’d be interested.
“Given our past, I’ll offer you the best deal.”
If it weren’t for my memories from a past life, I might have actually been swayed.
The Parrish family’s patent still had a few years left before it expired, but by then, competing products had already emerged, and product iterations were moving quickly.
In less than two years, newer patents had already come out.
If I developed a product using his outdated technology, I’d probably be bankrupt in just a few years.
He probably thought I was a sucker. If it was a valuable patent, he wouldn’t have just kept it idle until today.
Before I could say anything, the young man accompanying me to the awards ceremony frowned and stepped back in disgust.
“Where did this beggar come from?”
Caden’s expression didn’t even flicker. It seemed life had softened his edges.
His voice was low. “Mind your own business. This is between me and Ms. Wilson.”
But the young man wasn’t having it. He pouted slightly.
“Ridiculous! Luna’s business is my business! Who do you think you are?!”
A thought crossed my mind, and I couldn’t help but kiss his glistening lips.

The reporters nearby quickly gathered around as soon as they saw us.
“Ms. Wilson, is this your official boyfriend?”
I smiled, lifting the young man’s chin.
“Well, that depends on how he performs!”
The young man’s face blushed, and the reporters shared knowing smiles with a very ambiguous look.
Caden, pushed aside by the crowd of reporters, watched the scene unfold. His face gradually turned pale, and he silently turned to leave.
I flicked my skirt and walked confidently toward the spotlight, where flowers and applause awaited me.
A few days later, a headline went viral.
#Supporting Actress Cheryl Johnson Found Dead, Naked, in Her Apartment#
I was stunned, unable to process it, until the police called me, snapping me back to reality.
“Is this Ms. Wilson?
“The suspect in the murder case insists on seeing you before he’ll confess.”
When I arrived at the police station, I almost didn’t recognize the scruffy man.
The moment he saw me, he struggled to break free from his handcuffs.

“Luna, it’s that bitch’s fault! She destroyed my life!
“She has AIDS!
“Luna, she’s the one who killed our child!
“If it weren’t for her, we could’ve been so happy…”
He clutched his head, crying out in despair.
No wonder he seemed so off on the red carpet that day.
It appeared that was his final move, and now, with nothing left to lose, he could only take his anger out on Cheryl.
I smiled, my voice calm and unwavering. “Caden, you killed the child, and you brought this fate upon yourself. What you’re experiencing now is just retribution.”
I didn’t wait for his reaction and turned to leave, the sound of a teacup shattering echoing behind me.
“Someone, quick! The suspect has committed suicide!”
As I stepped out of the police station, I felt à sense of relief.
The overseas market was booming, so I made the decision to relocate the company headquarters to London.
On the top floor of The Shard, the sunset cast a gentle golden light over the entire city.
My phone rang–it–was Mia calling.
Her voice seemed to age by decades.

“Luna, I was cleaning the room and found some things Caden left for you. I’ll send them to you.”
“No need, Mia. Let the past stay in the past.”
Before she responded, I hung up the phone.
I looked out into the distance. My future was bright.
