Chapter 14 She’s Amazing
Once arriving at the shopping street, Bridgette led Christine and Sephora to a high–end boutique where she was a regular.
The store’s decoration was luxurious, with the rotating crystal chandeliers and rows of gorgeous clothes indicating the high prices.
“I wanna try on this, this, and that one. Bring me each of them in my size,” Bridgette said to the sales assistant while pointing at a few red gowns.
She started browsing the second they stepped in here, not remembering they were here for a gown for Sephora.
“OK, Ma’am,” the sales assistant replied respectfully.
Given the store’s prime location, the sales assistants here knew its customers were high–net–worth individuals whom they couldn’t afford. to cross, so they always treated everyone here with respect.
If they said anything wrong, it might cost them their job.
Though they worked here as mere assistants, since the store was located downtown, the pay here was way above average. Of course, no one wanted to be fired because of some mistake they made.
The store assistant brought the gowns over, and Bridgette went into the fitting room happily.
Compared to her, Sephora was much calmer.

Noticing her expressionless face, Christine figured she was too surprised to be at somewhere this fancy.
She urged, “Sephie, why don’t you go and take a look? See if there’s anything you like. You can try them on.”
“OK.”
Sephora nodded and started browsing, but she didn’t see anything to her liking.
Seeing that she still stood in place, Christine started to pick out gowns for her.
“Take that pink one in her size for her to try on.”
Christine pointed at a light pink knee–length dress with a few delicate. flowers embroidered on the chest.
Hearing this, Sephora looked over in the direction Christine was pointing and furrowed her brows, sighing at Christine’s taste. The dress. wasn’t exactly ugly, but unlike other sixteen–year–olds, Sephora wasn’t a fan of pink things.
But the shop assistant had already brought the pink dress over.
“Sephie, give it a try. Time to test my taste,” Christine said with a smile.
Though Sephora frowned at the dress, the shop assistant had already brought it over. Besides, Christine was looking at her eagerly.
She figured that it wasn’t a big deal to try it on, so she took the dress and went into the fitting room.

In the next second, Bridgette walked out of the fitting room next to
hers.
Right now, Bridgette was wearing a red halterneck gown with a high slit. Dragging the long train behind her, she trotted to the mirror and started to enjoy her reflection, obviously delighted with her choice.
She had a fair complexion. Also, thanks to those years of etiquette lessons Christine had made her go to, she had a great temperament. The bright red looked great on her, not at all making her look cheap.
“Ma’am, you look amazing in red.”
“That’s right. You’re literally the person who suits red the most. This dress is made for you.” The shop assistants all started to praise Bridgette at once. After all, it was basic skills in their line of work.
Though Bridgette knew they were just probably trying to please her into buying the dress, she was still pleased. After all, girls all enjoyed compliments.
Besides, she loved the dress.
“Mom, I like this one. Will you buy it for me?” She looked at Christine.
“But your wardrobe is filled with gowns already,” Christine said.
“I’ve worn them at least once already. Mom, just get it for me, will you? You’re the best.”
Bridgette looked at Christine, doe–eyed.
Christine sighed and said to the shop assistants, “We’ll take this one.

“Yay! Thanks, Mom! I love you so much!” Hearing this, Bridgette was so overjoyed that she shook Christine’s arm with a grin.
Meanwhile, Sephora happened to walk out of the fitting room. Seeing them so close, she couldn’t help feeling a bit upset.
Just then, Christine looked up and saw Sephora, her eyes lighting up with amazement–the pink dress was perfect on Sephora!
Sephora had a peaches–and–cream complexion, though she was slightly tanned from her racing days.
Plus, she had rarely gone out since returning to the Levine family, and it was winter now, so her complexion had reclaimed that delicate glow.
She had baby fat on her face, big, round eyes, a straight nose, and a rosebud mouth.
When she smiled, the dimples were clearly visible. Besides, she had long, thick eyelashes, which added a touch of delicacy when she blinked.
In the pink dress, she looked like a baby doll. Bridgette had alluring beauty, whereas hers was pure and even ethereal.
“Gosh! You look perfect in pink!”
“I’m starting to believe fairies do exist.”
The shop assistants couldn’t help but praise her genuinely. Hearing this, Bridgette bit her lip, though she remained smiling.
“Sephora, you really look great.”
Sephora looked at her reflection in the mirror. Though she looked nice,

she just couldn’t bring herself to say yes to pink.
“I’ll try on the white one. Thanks.”
She pointed to a white gown displayed on a mannequin.
“Sure. Just a second, Ma’am.”
Sephora had been calm, composed, and polite all this time, and the shop assistants liked her better.
Besides, they were indeed amazed by her in that pink dress.
Soon, one of the shop assistants brought the white gown over, and Sephora went into the fitting room again.
Three minutes later, she walked out.
Immediately, the world came to a stop. Even other customers paused, and some men accompanying their partners were slack–jawed.
