After a car accident, Yvonne Zeller lost her memories.
She could recall everyone except Colin.
Nancy Sullivan, her best friend who had been waiting at the hospital for days, quickly real- ized that Yvonne truly couldn’t remember Colin. Her expression instantly shifted.
“Yvonne, it’s just the two of us here,” Nancy said. “Be honest–are you pretending to forget my brother just to make him notice you?”
Yvonne blinked in confusion. “No, I honestly don’t remember anything. Who is he?”
“You’re not lying? Then swear it!”
Facing suspicion, Yvonne didn’t hesitate and made a serious vow right away.
Nancy was stunned by Yvonne’s response, like she had been hit by lightning, and grabbed Yvonne’s shoulders hard.
“You truly remember everything except Colin?”
Yvonne was confused why that was so shocking and asked, “Who’s Colin?”
Nancy’s expression turned complicated as she sighed and began explaining slowly, “Colin is my brother. When you visited my house, you fell for him right away and chased after him for
seven years…”
Yvonne’s brain stopped working for a second after hearing that.
“So, he’s my boyfriend now?”
Nancy looked a little awkward. “No. He never returned your feelings. He already has some- one he loves. He’s cold to everyone, not just you. He still can’t forget his first love, Sienna Jefferson.

“When they broke up, he was devastated. He drank constantly, ended up in the hospital, and almost didn’t make it. He never moved on. The day of your accident, he went to pick up Si- enna, who had just gotten back to America, and left you alone on the highway in the heavy rain. That was when the crash happened and you lost your memory.”
Yvonne was so shocked she couldn’t say anything. Her face froze with disbelief.
“If he never liked me, still loves someone else, and even hurts me for her, why did I ever like him? You’re not lying to me, are you?”
“Why would I lie to you? Everyone knows how crazy you were about my brother.”
Nancy shook her head, passed Yvonne the phone, and signaled for her to unlock it.
With hesitation, Yvonne took the phone and typed in a series of numbers, but the code didn’t work.
“It’s not your idol’s birthday anymore–it’s my brother’s, 0715.”
Following Nancy’s words, Yvonne unlocked the phone.
The moment she opened the photo album, she was overwhelmed by countless photos of a man she didn’t recognize.
His striking face made her freeze in place, and it slowly dawned on her that Nancy had been telling the truth.
Colin matched the image of her dream guy perfectly.
But in every photo, captured secretly from different spots, his eyes toward her were cold and distant.
Feeling unsettled, Yvonne tapped into the memo section.
She found page after page filled with notes about Colin–his favorite things, his habits, and what he couldn’t stand.
She also discovered a diary where she had written about her one–sided feelings each day.
“This is the seventh Valentine’s Day. I practiced how to confess for two weeks, but I still got

turned down. Colin, you said there’s no future for us, but I just can’t move on.

“You got drunk again and thought I was her. You kept saying her name. You told me you couldn’t forget her. Even though you knew she wouldn’t come back, you still chose to wait, like chasing a flame you know will burn you. At that moment, I realized we were the same. Our love is just as hopeless and heartbreaking.”
Even though her memories were gone, Yvonne could still feel the pain and sorrow behind those words.
It felt like something sharp pierced her chest, and the pain wouldn’t stop.
Her nose tingled, and tears were close to spilling out.
She stood frozen, lost in emotion and unable to calm herself.
The ward stayed quiet until Nancy finally broke the silence.
“So, what now? Do you still want to continue with the treatment? My uncle is a great psychi- atrist, but he’s overseas now. If you…”
“Forget it,” Yvonne said. “I don’t remember much, but I can tell that liking your brother must have hurt a lot. Maybe forgetting was for the best.”
She took a long breath, looked down, and erased everything–photos, memos, all of it.
Nancy stared at Yvonne with shock. Just as she was about to say something, her phone rang.
After hanging up, she grabbed her bag and said quickly, “I’ve got something to take care of at home. Take care, Yvonne. I’ll visit when I’m free.”
The door closed.
Yvonne was about to rest when she received a call from her hometown.
“Yvonne, do you remember I once told you about your arranged marriage? It’s been put off
years. Have you thought about it yet?”

Amelia Zeller didn’t expect a yes. She just wanted to give it one last shot.
To her surprise, Yvonne paused, then agreed.

“Alright, Mom. Once I handle things here, I’ll go back and go through with it.”

“You… What did you just say? You used to be crazy about your best friend’s brother. You even stayed in New York just for him and refused to return to San Francisco. You pursued him for many years. Why give up all of a sudden?”
Yvonne had no idea how to bring up her memory loss, and she didn’t want her family to stress over the accident.
So, after a moment of thought, she kept it simple.
“I don’t like him now, and I never will again.”
