Even though Yvonne no longer had feelings for Colin, being embarrassed in front of one still hurt. Her face went pale from the humiliation.

Once Colin finished making the announcement, he ended the meeting and quickly left with Sienna.
An HR staff member who had been waiting nearby handed him Yvonne’s resignation appli- cation.
“Mr. Sullivan, this is a resignation letter that needs your signature.”

Without even glancing at it, Colin signed the document coldly and walked off with Sienna.
After they left, Yvonne’s coworkers rushed over to comfort her. Surprisingly, she was calm.
Holding the signed resignation tightly, she smiled and said, “Being director isn’t important to me. I had already planned to quit.
“Mr. Sullivan just approved it. Today is my last day here. There’s still a long journey ahead of me. I wish you all well. We’ll meet again someday.”
Everyone was stunned when they found out Yvonne was leaving. They didn’t want her to go.
Some even said they would talk to Colin and try to help her get her position back.
Yvonne just smiled, shook her head, and thanked them one by one. Then, she returned to her office and quietly started packing.
After work, she invited her coworkers out for a farewell dinner. The mood was a little sor- rowful as she her goodbyes.

“Yvonne, don’t tell me you forgot my birthday tomorrow! I’ve been looking forward to your gift!”
“There’s no way I’d forget. Your gift is ready, and I’ll bring it tomorrow.”
Besides the gift, she also planned to tell Nancy that she was leaving.
In past years, she always got to the party early, hoping to spend more time with Colin.
This time, she didn’t go until the party was already halfway through.
Like always, the birthday celebration was held at the Sullivan’s residence.
Yvonne had been there so many times that she knew the place well and entered through the back entrance.
Inside the hall, the candles were just being blown out. Surrounded by guests, Nancy stood in the center, beaming with joy.
Her parents stood smiling beside her on one side, while Colin and Sienna were on the other, looking cheerful.
They appeared like a happy family.
Yvonne stayed in the background and overheard some maids whispering.
“I thought Mr. Sullivan and Ms. Jefferson were over for good. I didn’t think they’d ever get back together, but now it looks like they did. He’s so devoted to her.”
“Exactly. Ms. Sullivan’s best friend chased after him for years, but he never showed any in- terest. It’s obvious his heart has always been with Ms. Jefferson.”
“Sir Sullivan and Madam Sullivan have been hoping he’d settle down for a long time. He al- ways said no until now. Bringing Ms. Jefferson home feels like he’s finally made his choice. Maybe a wedding is coming soon.”
