Chapter 27
Joshua’s hospital room.
When Charleson helped Caroline over, most of the others had already left.
Only Joshua’s brother and mother were left. When Caroline
approached, Tristan voluntarily stepped aside.
The position next to Joshua’s hospital bed was vacated.
“Carol, come here and talk to Joshua.”
Joshua was still asleep. The doctor said the anesthesia might not have worn off yet, but he should be conscious.
So whenever I talked to him, he could hear me.
Caroline walked to the bedside, grabbed Joshua’s hand, and stared blankly at the bed filled with various medical devices attached to Joshua, without saying a word.
After a while, tears suddenly fell from her eyes, her small mouth tightly pursed. Although she tried hard not to cry, suppressing the sorrow that was about to overflow from her throat, tears seemed to be connected like a line, dropping one by one at the bedside.
Watching this scene, Lindsey couldn’t help but turn away, using the handkerchief in her hand to wipe away the tears in the corners of her eyes One was her own son, the other was the little girl she had watched grow up before her eyes, but now…
“Joshua… Can you wake up? You promised to graduate and go play with me, we haven’t gone yet…”
Caroline finally started speaking, but as soon as she opened her mouth. it was with a broken voice full of tears. The intense sadness
overwhelmed everyone present, even Charleson couldn’t help but feel his nose tingling as he watched her suffer so much.
“I was really angry some time ago… I couldn’t forgive you for some things, but now I’ve come to realize that as long as you are doing well. we can forget about all that, okay…”
In the ward, two girls started to cry, and Tristan walked over to comfort his mother gently
Charleson quietly exited the ward, there was no place for him to intervene in the current situation.
“Carol, I didn’t even have a chance to confess… Charleson said self- deprecatingly, watching the girl inside the door trembling with tears.
He thought, as long as you chose me, I would never make you cry in the future, but you chose the person who made you cry.
With a sigh, Charleson slowly walked out of the hospital. The weather was nice, with bright sunshine.
Let’s go eat something delicious, as a way to commemorate his first love that ended without any illness.
*Carol
Hearing a faint voice that seemed almost nonexistent. Caroline suddenly looked up to find Joshua staring at her.”
Chapter 27
With an oxygen mask covering his mouth, he opened and closed it as if trying to say something, but apart from the initial two sounds, he
couldn’t make any more noise.
Caroline quickly stood up, shaking her head and crying, “It’s okay, Joshua, don’t say anything for now. I’ll be here with you, no rush. We can talk about it later…”
She turned to go out and call the doctor, but her hand hanging on the edge of the bed was grabbed by Joshua. Caroline turned back to comfort him: “I’m not leaving, I want to go call the doctor.”
Tristan on the side finally realized and quickly said, “Carol, you stay here with Joshua, I will go call the doctor.”
Caroline finally sat down and nervously asked Joshua if there was anywhere he didn’t feel well.
After saying that, she cried and called herself stupid. How could it be possible not to feel uncomfortable? She must have been hurting all over her body.
She grabbed Joshua’s hand and kept saying, “I’m sorry… it’s all my fault…”
Joshua shook his head gently and spoke very slowly for a long time before finally saying, “It’s not… your… fault…”
Caroline’s tears flowed even more, perhaps sometimes, one really has to wait until they almost lose something to understand whether they truly love someone.
“Doctor, how is he?”
After the doctor finished the examination, Lindsey and Tristan
Jo S
anxiously inquired.
Joshua’s doctor was a middle–aged man with hair that had started to turn gray, but his eyes remained firm and sharp. When he spoke, his magnetic voice was filled with his unique persuasiveness.
“Don’t worry, so far the surgery has been very successful. The recovery of the spinal injury will depend on the future, but we also need to monitor the postoperative infections caused by internal organ ruptures from the car accident.”
Tristan left his mother and Caroline inside to accompany his brother, and he walked out with the doctor. Only after closing the door to the ward did he ask, “Is there any possibility of his leg recovering?”
The doctor did not answer immediately. After a moment of
contemplation, he said, “It is still possible. I just checked, and his basic. neurological reflexes are still present, but we will have to see how hist recovery progresses.”
“However, Tristan had just breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the doctor’s tone change, “He may have a difficult time fully recovering. Even with rehabilitation training, his physical abilities may not be as good as a normal person’s.”
Tristan’s furrowed brow, which had just relaxed, furrowed again. He sighed lightly in his heart, finally holding onto a life.
“Thank you, doctor. It’s okay, we will also advise him more in the future.”
The doctor nodded and left, but Tristan hesitated to go in. His brother was a proud and self–respecting person. If he knew that he might become disabled in the second half of his life, he didn’t know how he
would react.
Taking a deep breath, Tristan pushed open the door and entered the hospital room. He knew he had to say what needed to be said. He believed his brother was also a strong person.
After tactfully conveying the doctor’s words, to everyone’s surprise, Joshua just smiled to indicate that he understood.
Tristan was worried that he was giving up on himself, and he urged Joshua, “Joshua, don’t give up. With proper treatment, at least you can walk normally.”
Lindsey couldn’t help but worry: “Child, your brother is right. As long as you persist, things will definitely get better.”
“Mom, Tristan, I… didn’t… give up… Joshua spoke in a weak voice, but despite being slow, he still firmly expressed his thoughts: “I… just… feel… that I can still… be with you… is already… very lucky….
After finishing speaking, he glanced at Caroline holding his hand and said softly. “And… there’s also… Carol…”
When Joshua rushed over and pushed Caroline away, he felt that if this was how his life ended, it would be fine. Perhaps the meaning of his reincarnation was for this moment.
In his past life, he owed Carol too much, so much that he couldn’t even repay it. If he could save her this time, then he could finally be at
peace.
But he never expected to still be alive to see Carol again, to feel Carol’s love for him. He couldn’t help but smile secretly, how could he ask for more from heaven.

Moreover,
at that time Carol had both legs amputated, but she could still live on bravely by his side. It was just that later he made a mistake, causing Carol to leave him forever…
So now, as long as he can stay alive and accompany Carol, it doesn’t matter if he can’t fully recover. This is already a gift from heaven to him. Of course, he will heal and train well, just hoping to better accompany Carol.
Watching the three of them worry, Joshua didn’t say more. Time would slowly heal him and slowly show them their determination.
