Chapter 13
“Abandoned by people, unwanted orphan!”
His voice was not small, and the people around could hear it clearly.
Perhaps no one had expected it.
Mike, who was always gentle, generous, and handled things properly, would be an orphan.
After all. no matter his words, actions, and demeanor, he seemed like a child who had grown up in a happy family.
Just by looking at him, one can imagine that he had a pair of loving and open–minded parents, had good family conditions, and received a good education.
But now, Calvin spoke coldly: “He was abandoned by his parents, it was all an act. He’s vain, pretentious, just seeking admiration and approval from others, isn’t he?”
“This kind of person must be sick, definitely abnormal. Otherwise, why would his parents not want him and abandon him?”
“I was fine, my mom didn’t abandon me, Ashley, you should have chosen me-”
His words suddenly stopped.
Mike was punched hard.
The gentle facade faded away, and with a cold expression, he said, “I
don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that I’m not an orphan.”
His mood was not quite right, he turned and left after hitting someone.
I wanted to chase after him, but Calvin stopped me. Confusion flashed in his emotionless eyes as he asked. “I am clearly better than him in every way, so why do you still choose him? What does he have that is so important to make you so anxious?”
Bang!
A crisp slap sounded.
I felt the sharp pain in my palm from Calvin’s strong grip and saw the red handprint on his face.
She looked at him with an unprecedented, extreme disappointment.
“Calvin, I didn’t have parents either.”
“My parents didn’t want me either.”
Am I not normal either?
Calvin denied immediately after a meal, “I didn’t mean that.”
But I countered directly: “You really… beyond redemption.”
I accepted that he lacked the emotions that most people have and didn’t understand the ways of the world.
But this was not his reason for casually exposing others‘ private scars and hurting them.
That was not ignorance.
That was bad..
Now, I can hardly believe that I loved this person for four years.
Finding Mike was not difficult..
Just at the orphanage.
It was someone in the club who told me.
“Everyone who knew Mike well knew that, although they were initially surprised, they soon realized it wasn’t a big deal. So what if he was an orphan? He didn’t kill anyone or set anything on fire.”
“Mike has never hidden the fact that he is an orphan, but he also can’t go around telling everyone he meets that he’s an orphan, right?”
Others knew about it, but out of respect for his privacy, they wouldn’t go around spreading it.
What nature knows is also diminished.
Who would have thought that Calvin would dig it out and spill the beans in front of so many people.
As for him, he hit Calvin.
Everyone thought it was reasonable.
“Although he doesn’t mind being an orphan, but when this guy said in front of so many people that he is abnormal, and that his parents should not have abandoned him, who else should be punished if not him?!”
But when I arrived, he no longer had the cold look on his face that he
לו
had when he was hitting Calvin before.
He returned to his original gentle demeanor, and he gave the second- place medal to the children at the orphanage to play with in the courtyard.
I sat on the steps and counted the suns.
I sat gently beside him.
He began, “When I was young, I used to be very good at fighting. I wast known as a troublemaker and everyone was afraid of me.”
