Chapter 3
The next day.
When Sophia walked into the café, she immediately saw the woman sitting by the window.
The woman wore a red dress. Her delicate makeup was paired with voluminous waves, making her look radiant and bold.
“What do you want from me?” Sophia sat across from her, cutting straight to the point.
When Cassandra saw her dressed in a white T–shirt and jeans, the smugness in her eyes became even more apparent. She took out an ultrasound sheet from her bag and handed it over, smiling sweetly. “Ms. Beasley, I’m pregnant. The baby is Arnold’s. We’re getting married soon.
“I was young and foolish back then. I gave him up for my career. But after all these years, I’ve come to realize that love and family are what matter most. You were just a temporary comfort to Arnold during a lonely time. Now that I’m back, you should know your place and leave. If you keep clinging to him, things won’t end well for you.”
Though Cssandra appeared gentle and composed on the surface, her words were full of veiled threats.
At this, Sophia took a slow sip of her coffee, her voice calm. “Ms. Jarvis, I can leave anytime. But only if Arnold tells me himself that it’s
over.

“And since you’re pregnant, you should really be at home resting.”
Just as she was about to stand and leave, Cassandra suddenly stopped
her.
“Ms. Beasley, wait. I have one more gift for you.”
Before Sophia could make sense of her words, Cassandra grabbed the coffee from the table and splashed it on herself. Then she put on a pitiful expression and cried out, “Ms. Beasley, I know you hate me, please don’t hurt my baby.”
“Heh.
“What an old trick,” Sophia thought.
“Sophia, stop right there!”

A familiar voice grew nearer. When she turned her head, she saw Arnold striding quickly toward Cassandra. He immediately took off his suit jacket and wrapped it tightly around her.
“Cassandra, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”
The moment Cassandra saw Arnold, she threw herself into his arms and sobbed. “Arnold, you finally came… I was really scared just
now…”
Sophia stood to the side, quietly watching the affectionate scene
between the two.
It wasn’t until quite a while later that Arnold seemed to remember her presence. He helped Cassandra into the car first, then walked over to Sophia with a hint of helplessness in his voice. “Sophia, Cassandra is just a friend. Nothing ever happened between us. Can you stop making

a fuss?”
Making a fuss? Sophia was so furious she laughed.
“Arnold, you two are hugging in front of me, acting all intimate, and now you’re telling me I’m making a fuss? What exactly am I making a fuss about?”
Her calm and direct gaze left Arnold momentarily speechless.
“Babe, I’m sorry. I was just too worried earlier.”
Arnold tried to smooth things over with a few sweet words like he
always used to—but Sophia took two steps back, dodging his attempt to
touch her.
“I’m tired. I’m going home.”
Watching her retreating figure, Arnold took a step forward to follow, but a hand grabbed his right arm. “Arnold, my stomach hurts… Can you stay with me?”
Arnold froze and withdrew his foot.
