Then another voice followed, tinged with what sounded like
tears.
“Zoe, are you disgusted with me? You’re actually looking for someone else?”
I froze instantly.
Ben still had no clue what was happening, staring bewildered at the two men who had suddenly barged in, completely at a loss.
Before we could react, Luke rushed to my table and pulled me into his arms.
“Do you know how long I’ve been searching for you? Zoe, why did you lie to me?”
At first I was just shocked, but being held in his arms and hearing him ask that question, I only felt disgusted.
I pushed him away forcefully. Ben also stepped forward to shield me from Luke.
He didn’t understand the relationship between us, but his sense of justice wouldn’t let him ignore what was happening to me.
“Who the hell are you? Can’t you see she doesn’t want this? This is harassment!”

Luke frowned and looked at me.
“Honey, aren’t you going to explain?”

I couldn’t describe what I was feeling at that moment. Lena at the door had already been taken away by Tyler. Hearing, Luke’s term of endearment for me, Ben also looked at me in surprise.
All I could do was shake my head at him and apologize.
Ben’s face darkened, then he hurried away.
“How are you two here?”

I couldn’t figure it out there had been no warning signs whatsoever.
Just a few days ago I’d seen news reports about Luke and Tyler heading abroad again to search for us.
Why were they now standing right here at mine and Lena’s restaurant?
Luke still wore that heartbroken expression. Seeing my cold attitude, his eyes gradually reddened too.”
“Zoe, why did you and Lena suddenly disappear? Did I do something wrong?”

His question immediately ignited my fury.

“You’re asking me? You know damn well what you did!”
If it weren’t for him and Tyler both cheating, would Lena and I have needed to go through all that trouble planning a fake death?
Not wanting to get entangled with him, I brushed him aside and headed for the door.

He didn’t stop me, but followed at a distance behind.
As soon as I walked out of the tavern, I saw Lena and Tyler in the small courtyard outside the restaurant.
Tyler was holding Lena’s hand, saying something, but Lena was clearly resistant, turning her head away from Tyler.
I rushed into the courtyard just in time to hear Lena’s
accusation.
“I never imagined you were this kind of person! Since you’ve already gone this far, why bother searching the world for me? Go live with your mistress!”
A flash of hurt crossed Tyler’s eyes, then despite Lena’s struggles, he scooped her up and carried her toward the room.
I immediately stepped forward to stop him.

Suddenly, an arm wrapped around my waist, then my shoulders were gripped and I was spun around 180 degrees to face Luke’s aggrieved expression.
“Zoe, Tyler won’t hurt Lena. Don’t worry. Look at me, Zoe.”
Of course I knew Tyler wouldn’t hurt Lena.
I could clearly see the genuine love in Tyler’s eyes just now.
But he had cheated and had an illegitimate daughter who was at least four years old. How could he so shamelessly look at Lena
with such tender affection?
Muffled voices came from inside the room. They seemed to be arguing, or maybe venting.
I looked at Luke coldly and snorted.
“Luke, when you and Tyler were cheating, you should have known this day would come.”
Since they didn’t dare admit it themselves, I’d lay it out first.
Sure enough, after hearing my words, Luke showed a surprised expression.
He slowly responded under my icy stare.
