Chapter 22 Drinking Causes Trouble
“Give me your phone,” said Fabian.
Hayden asked, “For what?”
Fabian grabbed Hayden’s phone and sent a message to Giselle, “This is Fabian. Meet me at the courthouse at 2 PM tomorrow.”
Since she wanted a divorce too, he might as well just set her free.
Giselle usually hit the sack early. But ever since she got pregnant, she would often wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Afterward, she couldn’t fall back asleep and would end up scrolling through her phone.
Fabian had sent her a message from someone else’s phone, saying to meet him at the courthouse tomorrow.
She had been thinking about it for a while, but seeing the text from Fabian still made her feel a little sad.
Giselle thought, “Since Tatiana has come to, we are going to get divorced sooner or later. So why can’t I just move on?“”
Ever since she got pregnant, she had become super emotional.
Her sleep was bad, and now she couldn’t sleep at all. She stayed up all night.
The next morning, Giselle got up carly and headed to the hospital.
Since they were getting divorced, there was no way she would keep the
baby

“It wasn’t easy for you to get pregnant. You’ve been on anti–miscarriage meds for so long, and it took a lot to get all your numbers normal. Are you sure you don’t want it?” Jarrett asked.
Giselle nodded firmly. “Yeah, when can I get the surgery?” They were getting a divorce. She couldn’t keep this baby. It’d be a mess for both of them. Even if the baby was born, its life wouldn’t be complete.
“Watch your diet and hygiene. No cold or spicy food. No sex. Come back in three days for the surgery,” said Jarrett.
She hadn’t eaten anything that morning, and her stomach was growling. Giselle couldn’t help but feel a little nauseous.
“Giselle, what are you doing here? Aren’t you feeling well?” Tatiana happened to drive by the hospital and saw Giselle holding a bag of test.
results.
Giselle said, “No, my mom isn’t well. I’m just picking up some meds for
her.”

“Oh, I thought you were sick.” Tatiana glanced suspiciously at the bag in Giselle’s hand.
Giselle instinctively hid it.
“Are you not feeling well too?” she asked.
Tatiana said, “No. I just didn’t use protection last night, and I’m worried I might be pregnant. I don’t want a baby right now.”
It was Madilyn’s birthday last night. Tatiana should have been with
Fabian.
Giselle felt a pang in her heart but shook it off. They were getting divorced anyway. Who Fabian was with was none of her business.
At 2 PM, Giselle showed up at the courthouse on time, but Fabian wasn’t there. She called him, but there was no answer.
She thought, “Is Fabian really going to stand me up?”
Giselle made dozens of calls in a row. Just when she was about to give up, he finally picked up.
“Hey, Gigi?” Fabian sat up groggily from the bed. He was wasted last night and had just woken up.
“Mr. Mercado, we agreed to meet at the courthouse at 2 PM. When are you coming?” asked Giselle.
Fabian’s head was splitting. He wondered when he had said that.
“Fabian, a real man keeps his word! Get over here now!” Since they were getting divorced, Giselle was dead serious this time.
Words failed Fabian.
He was so wasted last night that he couldn’t remember anything he said.
“Giselle, are you sure you want to divorce me?” Fabian frowned,
“Absolutely sure. Whoever backs out is a coward!” Giselle was firm.
Fabian snapped, “Fine. I hope you won’t regret it!”
“Never!” With that, Giselle hung up the phone.

Half an hour later. Fabian showed up at the courthouse.
Giselle was waiting for him at the entrance. Her small frame looked unusually determined.
“Did you bring the divorce papers, marriage certificate, and your ID?” Giselle asked.
Fabian frowned. “No.”
“Then why are you even here?” asked Giselle in a huff.
“Didn’t you ask me to come?” Fabian retorted.
Giselle was rendered speechless..
