My breath caught. A small smile flickered on his lips. “The wolf can sense the connection even when the body is broken. Maybe your wolf pitied him.”
I felt heat rise in my cheeks, but the truth was undeniable. I had felt it too–the strange pull toward this broken Alpha.
“What did you say to him?” Beta Yuan asked, his voice curious.R

“But then…” I continued, my voice softer now, “he reached for my hand. The way his fingers touched me so gentle despite the strength beneath–it made my skin tingle.”
