Chapter 10
Julia’s POV
That night, I asked Lucas to drop me off at the company.
“I still have some things to take care of before going home.” I said and he nodded without hesitation.
He dropped me off and after some hours, I was done, about to head out. The moment I stepped out of the company doors, the sight of a sleek, black car parked near the entrance gate made me wonder if Alex was here. It was his car and his car plate number convinced me more that it was truly him. Why was he here?
At the sight of it, my feet slowed instinctively, my fingers tightening around the strap of my purse as my eyes were darting around to catch a glimpse of him.
Shortly, the driver’s side door opened, and Alex stepped out. His expression was a mixture of anger and something else, something possessive. He strode toward me, his towering body casting a shadow over me as I tried to walk pass him.
“Julia,” he said, his voice sharp and commanding. “You really didn’t waste any time, did you?”
I halted with a frown, my patience already thin. “What are you talking about?”
He scoffed. “Two men, Julia? Me and Lynwood? Do you think this is some kind of game?” He grabbed me obsessively by my hand, the upper side near my shoulder. His grip was firm and painful.
I stared at him with no fear. “I don’t owe you an explanation, Alex. You and I are done. The wedding was off a long time ago. What. Don’t. You. Understand?” Her gaze bore into mine, I could see how he was about to go berserk.
His jaw clenched, his eyes darkening with fury and all I could now see was a cold man, his eyes spoke of no emotions. “You were mine,” he hissed. “And now, you’re running straight into Lucas’s arms?”
A bitter laugh escaped me. “You have no right to be concerned about what I do and who I run to. You lost that right the moment you…” I stopped myself before I could bring up all the ways he had betrayed me and treated me like trash. He wasn’t worth the pain of revisiting those
memories.
Alex’s face twisted in frustration. “You don’t even deny it,” he muttered, stepping closer. “Tell me, Julia, are you sleeping with him?”
My blood ran cold at his words. “That is none of your business,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Now, let me go.” I said as I struggled out of his grip but he held me still, tighter than before.
The argument escalated. His voice rose, his accusations becoming more venomous, but I refused to let his words get to me. In fact, I was very sure he would be wondering how I suddenly became this courageous to act the way I did. I was unwilling to let him intimidate me anymore.
“I saw how he held your waist. How you both paraded like a couple,” Alex spat.
I exhaled sharply, already exhausted by his baseless accusations. “And? What does that have to do with you?”
Alex’s jaw clenched. “Everything. You were mine, Julia.”
A bitter laugh escaped me, “Were. Past tense,”
His eyes darkened with something dangerously close to obsession. “So, you ran straight to Lucas? Did you sleep with him? Yes or no? Is that why you’re so eager to defend him?”
My stomach churned at his words. “Who I choose to be with is none of your business,” I snapped. “You don’t get to question me, Alex Carter.”
Alex scoffed, stepping closer. “You’re flaunting another man in my face, acting like you were never mine to begin with. I thought you loved me” he said.
“You were the one who didn’t know my worth. Now you expect me to sit around, miserable and aloné, just to soothe your ego?”
The tension between us intensified, neither of us willing to give up. “You were supposed to be my wife.”
“And I thank the stars every day that I escaped that fate,” I shot back. “You’re just mad because you finally realized Lucas is doing better than you and you are pained to see me with him.”
A dangerous silence stretched between us. His nostrils flared, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. Then, before I could react, he dragged me forward, yanking me toward the open door of his car as I fell in, now lying on the back seat while he was now on me,

complete privacy.
“Alex…!” My protest was cut off as he pinned my lips shut.
I tried to scramble out of his grip, but the door slammed shut behind him. A devilish grin left his lips as he was now staring right to my face
with a smirk.
My breath came in quick, shallow bursts. Alex loomed over me, his broad shoulders blocking out the faint light from outside.
“You are comparing me with Lucas, huh?,” he muttered, his voice eerily calm.
A shiver ran down my spine. “Let me out, Alex.”
He didn’t move. Instead, he reached out, his fingers trailing over the side of my face before gripping my chin, forcing me to look at him.
“I hate comparison, Julia,” he murmured, his thumb brushing over my lower lip.
I swallowed hard, my pulse pounding in my ears.
Then, he leaned in, his lips barely an inch from mine as he whispered,
“I think it’s time I remind you who you really belong to.”
