Chapter 6
Wallace hugged me and the baby close, his eyes filled with murderous
intent.
“Don’t worry, Joanna. I won’t let the people who hurt you and the baby get away with it.”
“I’ll make them pay a hundred times over for what you went through today.”
I held the baby for a day and a night before I finally accepted that we had lost him forever.
Wallace and I had him cremated, then buried him in the most peaceful cemetery in New York.
Colin and Irene were dragged in by bodyguards and forced to kneel before the baby’s grave.
It was only one day, but I could barely recognize them.
Colin and Irene looked like swollen wrecks–faces beaten to a pulp, hair a mess, and cuts still oozing blood all over their arms and legs.
Wallace ordered his men to soak whips in chili water and then lash the two of them until their skin was ripped apart. After that, he threw them into a sewage pit overnight. They still stink horribly.
Wallace handed me an iron rod. “Joanna, do whatever you want to them. If anything happens, I’ll take care of it.”
I took the iron rod and looked down at them. Colin and Irene immediately

dropped to their knees, eyes wide with fear, begging.
“Aunt Joanna, I swear I didn’t know you were carrying Uncle Wallace’s baby. Please, just this once. Have mercy. I won’t dare again…”
Yesterday, I was the one on my knees, begging them to spare me and my baby. Did they show mercy?
I raised the iron rod and slammed it down hard on Colin’s back. “Didn’t know? I told you more than once the baby was Wallace’s. Did you listen?”
Colin screamed, collapsed to the ground, and shook uncontrollably. He stammered, “Uncle Wallace has stayed away from women his whole life, and everyone knows he’s infertile.”
“I didn’t think he’d ever marry you, let alone have a child with you.”
“So that’s your excuse for killing my baby? Yesterday, I begged you to make a phone call to confirm it. But you refused and smashed my phone.”
If Colin had believed me for even a second, my baby wouldn’t have died
like that.
Rage boiled in my chest as I struck him again and again with the iron rod. He screamed in pain, trying to squirm away, but the bodyguards pinned him down, leaving him no chance to escape.
He could only scream at me in fury, “Joanna, if you don’t stop, I’ll spill all your dirty secrets. Let’s see if Uncle Wallace still wants you after that!”
I stared at him coldly. “What dirty secrets do I have for you to spill?”
Colin snarled. “The night before the wedding, you were messing around with a bunch of guys in a bar. Naked photos of you were everywhere. If you weren’t such a slut, I wouldn’t have left you at the wedding!

“If I hadn’t run away from the wedding, none of this would’ve happened. In the end, you’re the one culprit in all of this!”
He turned to Wallace and shouted, “Joanna is a whore! A woman like her doesn’t deserve to set foot in the Thomson’s villa. It’s because of her filthy past that I accidentally hurt the baby!”
Wallace kicked Colin hard. “You dare slander my wife like that? Have you ever thought about the consequences?”
Colin yelled back, “I’m not lying! Irene saw it with her own eyes, and I still have those filthy photos of Joanna on my phone!”
I turned my gaze to Irene, who was still on her knees nearby. I swung the iron rod inches above her head. “When exactly did you see it with your own eyes, Irene?”
Irene’s face turned pale. She couldn’t get a single word out.
I raised the iron rod and slammed it down on her shoulder. “Speak!”
Irene wailed in pain and said. “I made it all up to trick Colin into running away with me! I photoshopped the photos!”
