Chapter 5
He never imagined I would divorce him. He thought it was something that could never happen.
After reading the medical report, Victor slapped Zachary hard in front of
everyone.
“You beast! Look at what you’ve done! If I had known this would happen, I never should have let you marry Queenie! You’ve destroyed her life!”
When Victor was on the verge of passing out from anger, the Conrad family rushed to help him away.
Once the crowd had left, Zachary stood alone, staring at the divorce. agreement in his hand.
After a long pause, he tore the papers into pieces without a word.
Ignoring Ruby’s shouts behind him, he took the keys from the driver and drove to the Snowden’s manor on his own.
Unfortunately, everything was pitch black inside and out.
Zachary rolled down the car window and waited by the gate, smoking all night. His throat became sore, and his voice grew hoarse, but the lights
never came on.
It wasn’t until the fifth day after the birthday party that he learned I had gone abroad.
He couldn’t figure out why I left, wondering if I didn’t want to see him
anymore.

”
He thought it was just a mistake, a common one that many men make.
He couldn’t accept the idea that I wouldn’t see him and divorce him so casily.
He refused to accept it and wasn’t going to allow it.
After much effort, Zachary found out where I was staying. He immediately booked the fastest flight and went straight to the airport from the office without even going home for his luggage.
Just as he was about to check in, Ruby showed up, crying.
“Zachary, do you not care about me and the baby anymore?”
Zachary glanced at her pregnant belly, patted her head, and said, “I’ve arranged for assistant Leo to find a new place for you. You’ll be moving in today.”
Ruby’s tears started pouring.
“As long as I’m with you, I’ll live anywhere–even in a dump.
“But our child is innocent, Zachary. If Queenie truly loved you, she would treat our child like her own.”
She went on, “Instead, she deliberately ruined your grandfather’s birthday party and made both you and the Conrad family look bad in front of others! She–”
Before Ruby could continue, Zachary, cold and distant, interrupted her.
“What gives you the right to judge my wife?
“Ruby, I thought you were more reasonable, but it seems like you don’t understand your place.”
He took the boarding pass from the staff and glanced down at Ruby. “No matter how many kids I have outside, Queenie will always be my one and only wife.
“By the way, you need to take all your stuff with you when you leave the villa. I don’t want Queenie coming back and seeing anything that could upset her.”
Ruby stood there, stunned and crying, and then watched him walk away.
“Hah, Zachary, I didn’t expect you to be more naive than I am.
“You hurt Queenie so much–how could she ever come back?”
People said women understood women the best, but Zachary walked away, not taking Ruby’s words to heart.
He thought he knew me well.
Over the past nine years, no matter how angry I was, as long as he apologized sincerely and gave me a thoughtful gift, I’d always soften.
But this time, I was so furious that I printed out the divorce agreement.
Zachary believed buying me more gifts wouldn’t be enough this time.
