Chapter 7
Perhaps because the case was so sensitive,
I was interrogated the same day I was brought to the police station.
The female officer who had looked at Olivia with such sympathy at the house stared at me intently.
“Adam! You’re young but you’ve got some nerve! Tell me, why did you go to your female classmate’s house to assault her?!”
This time I was fully prepared,

This time I was fully prepared,
So I wasn’t flustered like in my previous life.
“Olivia invited me over. I have the messages she sent me on my phone. You can check.”
The officer looked at me,
The corner of her mouth twitching upwards slightly.
“You’ve really got guts, still trying to lie even now! There was no phone found at the scene! I suggest you cooperate with the investigation!”
I was puzzled, but remembering Mr. and Mrs. Quinn’s sly smiles,
I instantly understood everything. The phone I had tossed outside,
Must have been disposed of by Mr. and Mrs. Quinn.
But Olivia had underestimated me.
That phone I left outside wasn’t even my usual phone.
I looked up at the officer.
“Ma’am, the phone wasn’t at the scene because it’s in my jacket pocket.”
The officer’s eyebrows raised slightly. She nodded to her colleague.
Her colleague came over and sure enough, pulled a phone from my pocket.
The officer looked at the messages from Olivia on the phone and was silent for a moment.
Then she looked at me again.
“Alright, these messages prove Olivia invited you over. But she invited you to say goodbye. Why did you do that to her?”
“Ma’am, Olivia took off her own clothes. I didn’t do anything to her. In fact, she drugged my drink, which is why my face was flushed and I was disoriented.”
As soon as I finished speaking,
The officer who had taken my phone laughed.
He came closer, still laughing as he said:
“Kid, you’re not just gutsy, you’re quite the smooth talker too! Listen to yourself, do you even believe what you’re saying?
“An 18–year–old girl takes off her clothes in front of you of her own accord? A good girl who follows all the rules at school drugs your drink? Do you really expect us to believe that?”
The officer seemed about to say more,
But the female officer who had been sitting there waved her hand to stop him.
Then she came over to me, her tone growing more serious.
“Adam, this isn’t a game. You need evidence to back up your claims. You say she took off her clothes first, do you have proof? You say she drugged your drink, do you have proof?”
I nodded towards the wine stain on my sleeve.
“This stain is from when I accidentally spit out some of the drink. You can test it to see if there are any drugs.”
“As for whether she took off her own clothes, you can check the video on the phone I just gave you. I recorded everything as evidence..”
Indeed, to prevent what happened in my previous life,
This time when I went to Olivia’s house,
I had brought two phones.
One phone I tossed outside,
I had agreed to Olivia’s request so readily
Because I was worried she would search me.
The other phone was hidden in my backpack, recording video the whole time,
Acting as a hidden camera.
So when Olivia took off her clothes,
That phone captured everything…
Sure enough, after watching the video on the phone, the female officer’s expression grew more serious.
After finishing the video, she nodded at the officer next to me.
“Take this kid out and get him something to eat. He’s been through a lot today and must be scared.”
I looked at my now–free hands and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
That evening, the test results for the wine stain on my clothes came back.
Though the female officer didn’t tell me the results,
I could tell the answer from her kind gaze.
As I was leaving her office, she smiled and asked me as she returned my phone:
“Kid, how did you think to bring two phones when visiting your classmate? And hide one so well?”
I smiled at her.

I smiled at her.
“That backpack is what my dad uses to monitor my studying at home. I accidentally grabbed the wrong bag when I left…
I was just an 18–year–old kid after all.
The female officer laughed a little at my answer but didn’t say anything.
Whether she believed me or not didn’t matter.
I had managed to escape this crisis.
Now it was time for me to take center stage…
